yes there are legal requirements, we had one fitted. If you telephone JetGaz on 0392 4444538 they will help you. They fitted ours and it had to be a certain distance from house also you are supposed to register it.

We have had a 2 gas tanks at 2 different houses and this is what we were told:

1. Any gas tank under 500 ltrs can be sited almost anywhere in the garden as there is no restriction about it being so many metres from any walls. We did not need a licence or a fire extinguisher.

2. Any gas tank over 500 ltrs has to be 3 metres from boundary walls and main walls of the dwelling. You do need a fire extinguisher and a licence which is an annual licence from the kaymakamlik office in Girne.

I do know of people putting in 2 x 500 ltr tanks to avoid the rules but that is their decision.

Hope that helps

Msg 5, it is still best to check with a phone call with the supplier of your gas just in case there are any updated rules and regulations, you know what the TRNC is like for changing their minds often on things. This will give you complete peace of mind.

I have never thought of using a fire extinguisher as an ergonically designed pillow!

Valarius, is this for heating? if so beware the costs are so high to run LPG Central Heating, We rented for 2 winters whilst we where building our Villa, both places had gas, It was sooooooooo expensive to use.

We took advice and went for diesel, yes it as gone up, but it is still a far better bet than L.P.G.

1200 YTL deposit for the tank and another 1200 YTL to fill it.

Ours is 1m diameter and approx 1.5m tall.
