Where would the pool be located, is there good mechanized plant access and is the ground free of rock (as far as you can tell)? Would you consider decking to a tiled surround as this could work out at about the same cost.

Stone wall would have to be taken down to allow access for plant from road, ground should be free of rock, others on our site have had pools without any problems regarding excavation.

Decking sound OK but would have thought that would be cheaper than tiling!

I am just looking for a ball park figure for now to see the difference between conventional pool and liner.

Hi Vaughan,

Any problem in giving a price for the question above? You usually respond quite quickly!

Decking would have to stand on a reinforced concrete platform, as would tiles. 2 metres all around the pool would add considerably to the cost. I am working on a better price for you and still waiting for some figures to come in.

Hi again Girnegeezer,

Final figure for pool, assembled in-ground, assuming good access (demolition/rebuilding of wall not included) and rock-free ground, as described.

Surround in slabs 15,000 pounds

Surround in decking 16,500 pounds.
