Hello,

Being new to these forums and planning on a move to N.Cyprus, i have had a read of a fair few forums and notice all the arguements over what did or did or did not happen pre 1974, and till the present time!

Can anyone tell me FACT what actually did happen, i obviously know the basic outline but have now read so many conflicting stories that i'm not sure of what i thought i knew!

lippylou,

you will get one version from the south and another from the north.

it all started a lot longer ago than 1974, from what i understand.

read between the lines and come to your own conclusion.

I doubt very much you'll get the whole facts here. You will definately enjoy reading the differences of opinions though.

The Genocide Files (Hardcover)

by Harry Scott Gibbons (Author)

Hi try and get hold of a copy of this,It will really open your eyes as to who or what was to blame.

This was from a reporter from a daily newspaper from the UK,Quite an eyeopener.

Hi Lippy Lou...

check ou the following link... If you do read his book.. a bit long winded... but there's an easier book to read and is called "the Road to Bellapais"... by an American Author.... a bit less graphic and more explainational.... is that an English word? I mean it's easy to read...

Susanne.

I read the books long before the property boom. I also know people who survived it. So you are wrong it is not one sided. Before I ever visited Northern Cyprus which was many years ago I visited the South and experienced the Greek vitriolic tirade first hand.

North Cyprus is a wonderful place to live or holiday!

Unfortunately 'canned worms' are not available here, but susanne appears to thrive off them, so they must be widely available in the South!

...Cyprus as an island is a wonderful place to live or holiday, depends on your morals which side you choose.

I don't think you can moralise as far as holidays go.

It does seem morals are somewhat questionable amongst all the young clubbers who flock to the South!

Talking of morals or lack of: The GCs mercilessly murdered nearly all the men and boys in what was once a TC village called Dkohni. In this very same village GCs use it for holidays: Agrotourism. I wonder if they tell their tourists what they did to the previous inhabitants?

Great link on your posting Traveller. Im sure everyone will notice the archive button in the top right hand corner of the page when it opens. The documents contained in the archive make very interesting reading too. There is an article by Bruce Fein from April 2008 that should be prescribed reading to all taking part in the talks now gathering pace.
