As anyone out there transported their pets from UK to North Cyprus overland by car, other than obtaining a UK Export Health cert. and a TRNC Import Licence did you acquire transit permission documents or waiver papers from the countries travelled through or will the Pet Passport take them over the borders. If you did, I would be grateful if you would forward any contact details of said counties.

Hi David,

We brought our dog with us from Uk last April, having sought all the correct papers for export and import here in TRNC the ash cloud delayed our flight so we drove. Not once were we asked to show Montys pet passport upon entering any EU country, he sat in the back of the car, it was a convertible so he was not hidden but the customs were not interested in him or us I have to add, as the only time our passport came out was when we entered Turkey !!! You will still need you import licence for here (TRNC) and you will need to advise the port at Girne when you arrive that you have a pet as they will need to inspect him/her before you take the dog home. But you do not need to give them notice of this. You will be able to do home quarentine which is great.

Email me off board if you want to know more

Mary, wife of Sparky

swyflot,

I have already been in contact with Defra, TRNC Ministry and the Animal Rescue and have downloaded all their paperwork relating to export/importing pets into TRNC. Am now in the process of filling in those forms to send off, which will take me out of UK, and hopefully get me with the pets into TRNC.

What I was looking for was, if any members had completed the journey personally, crossing through the other countries did they with do it with transit papers.
