Cheers.

Bornagain,

Why are you afraid of the Cyprus Forum. I am a member thre and I visit them about once every six months just for the joy of winding up the luntics. There are some sensible ones too but most are really uncurables.

Maybe its time for me for another visit

ismet

PS: MY username is Elko and true name ismet as always, never have anything to hide.

Merhaba Ismet bey

I am not afraid as I am already tainted. I am in touch with others that have had, let us say, adverse reactions to their point of view other than the usual arguments. As long as people know what the Forum is about then that is all I can do.

And have Cyprus Forum put you on moderation for "winding up the lunatics"? Because that's what you do to those who don't agree with the Elko mantra on your own BB. Just as well some people avoid hyprocrisy over freedom of speech, eh?

Freedom of speech should be the goal of any society. It is critical that people have their voice heard. It helps people to feel free and liberated and at the same time it brings in a richness of diversity in to the system.

It is also important to remember than words have power. It is words that propel people to take action. It has been cited than the pen is mightier than the sword. For this reason there will be occassions when you have to make a decision about censuring certain individuals or groups of people. As an example, I feel that the British government was right in censuring some of the Islamic fundamentalists who were inciting violence. Of course, the act of banning these people goes against the principal of freedom of speech but there are times when you have to take that type of action.

The problem with forums such as these is that if you have two sides of people who consistently take opposing sides it is inevitable that the two factions are going to end up slagging each other off. It's going to get down right nasty because there is absolutely no chance of one side convincing the other. Each side will feel frustration which leads to anger and bitterness. For example, PP or Susanne have not convinced me one bit to change my views and I have not succeeded in convincing them to change theirs.

If it is okay to have very heated debates where both sides end up slagging each other off then keep the forum as it is.

If the goal is to support people holydaying and buying properties in Northern Cyprus, then if it was my decision I would kindly ask both PP and Susanne to leave this forum. Personally I am finding this forum far too stressful and am seriously considering leaving it. There must be better things in life than constantly defending the TRNC against PP and Susannes views.

As Wyn has often said debating with PP can only lead to unhappiness.

Of course, if people get off on people arguing on this forum then they will want it to stay the same.

I know that sussane's posts seem to have been monitored and I guess wisely.

She seems to think that the only property purchased is of "Greek Cypriot" Title prior to 74.

Two small personal notes:

There could only be Cypriot title as once upon a long time ago there were Cypriots and only Cypriots. Their country was invaded again and again and again; Persians, Egyptians, Romans to name a few even the Brit's got their nose in.

Many people will have purchased Turkish or other pre 74 title deed properties / land are you planning to disposses them?
