Hi. We are thinking of getting sky over there but wondered how you get on with the reception. Do you find it breaks up alot in mad weather and humidity. When we had it before abroad we found this happened alot and wasn't worth having. do you need monthly subscription?

Some say.multi room it in the uk,take the box and card over, fit a 1.6m dish, bingo you've got "sky" tv. That's what i've been told!!!! And i've seen it working at some guy's house, can't remember where though.^^

The reception does break up in bad weather as in the uk. Bring your boxes and card, do not cancel your subscription.

We get most channels with a 1.8 dish. No BBC, but ITV,CH4,CH5,More 4,E4 and most Sky Channels except Sky Sports 4 and Sky Sports Extra. Contact Iceman when you arrive. He will see this post and give you his contact details, supply dish and tune you all in. Well worth it.

Sky the only way to go-these other setups that have mainly American TV series and 5 year old soaps may satisfy some people.

There is nothing like BBC and Uk TV, there have been lately many excellent programmes.

Nobody really does it as well as UK

It works well here with 1.8 but no BBC a 4.2 dish is well worth the expense-but of course you need the space.

Hi R.C.T.Man.

If you can't get C5, can you get BBC 1 London..?

It will either be on channel 101 or 974...

I THINK you have interference from a new Arab 'bird' that has gone up only a few degrees from the Astra one broadcasting only a few GHz from 10773 freq you so need.

Do you know who installed the dish ?

Iceman has developed a 'fix' for those so effected

Had SKY here for 8 years, no problems, was costly to install a big dish, but wouldn't be without it.

R.C.T

FIVE stored on channel #105 and transmitted FTA is on Astra 2D (which requires a well tuned 4m+ dish in Cyprus)

Try adding freq 12422H 27500 2/3...

forgot to add..once you add 12422H 27500 2/3 for FIVE,you will have to go into "other channels" to watch it.

I have a 4.2 dish and still have some interference on BBC channels - usually around 9.00pm. HD channels seem to be unaffected but can't get BBC1 HD. Anyone get that channel?

Dear Judyr

No-one can get BBC1 HD in Cyprus :(

It currently is broadcast from part of the satellite footprint that simply doesn't reach the island
