Hi all... Apologies if this has been covered...

Does anyone know where you have to go to register a dog with Alsancak Belediyere - we had her registered in Lapta last year but have since moved so need to get her registered here. I know Lapta used to do an annual registration down near Rosy's - do Alsancak do a similar thing or do we have to go somewhere special...?

Would appreciate any help from anyone in Alsancak who has done this...

Thanks.

Spanna.

With Alsancak Belediyesi is the correct way to refer to the local council. There is no such word as Belediyere in Turkish as far as I am aware, although I do accept that not having lived in Cyprus for 38 years the language may have changed a little.

Thanks YFred... Correction noted!! ;)

You're absolutely right - the correct word for the municipality is Belediye or Belediyesi according to google translate...?? Now...back to thread... any info about the dog??

My vet told me that I have to go to the Alsancak Belediye building and register my dog there, as far as I am aware Alsancak do not have the annual round up in the same way that Lapta does.

Hi Tinkie...

Thanks - do you know if you have to take the dog, or just the vet book with innoculations etc...?

OK done this this morning, first you need to go to vets in Girne past law courts and opposite main hospital, drive in there is parking at rear, take any innoculations certs you have, I was in there 5 mins 10tl (dog) , the lady will give you a green card and tell you to go to Lapta or Alsanjac Belediye, I went to Lapta as we live in Lapta, was told originally "to come back in two weeks as they are still doing count up", I said "they have knocked on my door but I wasn't in" " we will ring you in 2 weeks" " but you dont have my number" " come back in one hour" " I cant " " OK come Monday at 8am" " OK bye "

Friends went yesterday and registered their dogs no problem.

Scubadoo did you take with you to Girne? I ask because we went to do this a year or so ago and they wanted to see the dog.

No worries, Tinkie... Least we both know now!

Scubadoo - would also like to know if you took the dog with you... don't want to ferry her in to town if it's not necessary...

Thanks for all the info - really helpful!

Dont need to take dog but this being Cyprus the rules may have changed within the last couple of hours, although ours was with us she didnt ask to see it, was in there few minutes, straight forward enough.

Hi all,

I just did this, this morning at the Vetinary offices in Girne. No need to take the dog, didn't ask for dogs records, just noted he had been with KAR and was microchipped. Asked dogs weight and gave me a worming tablet. 10ytl

I'm a bit confused now because we already do the yearly worming tablet thing in Lapta and we have a green card that they update. Does this mean my dog is registered or do I still have to go to Girne???

why not do what the Mongers do with their 12 dogs - nothing............

why don't the gov't spend their time sorting out the poor infrastructure and dwindling tourism numbers, instead of faffing around collaring people who havn't got a dog licence............

no wonder the place is going to the dogs..............

Alsancak did have an annual registration last year in October. It was at one of their depots past Sunny Lane School. They issued the green cards and worming tablets. Again no need to take your dog along.

p.s. Mrs Hippo did you get tablets for Hippo?
