While this was mooted in January, the actual event has now been deemed acceptable to take place on Friday, March 4. I believe it will be going on at JKs. All are, of course, welcome, regardless of age.

I have no problem moving it to saturday if everyone wants to, although it has now been posted in the paper as happening at 7;30 on Friday so it might be a bit difficult. I should point out that while everyone is welcome and old people will not be run out of town, yes we are going for a 20s-40 age group.

'You can please some people.....' No matter what date/venue you decide there are always going to be those who can't make it, want it somewhere else, or at a different time! It has already been put off once, so maybe it might be an idea to just do it and see how it goes? I assume there is not a cost or anything, so it is just a case of turning up?

Hey everyone, thanks for your responses, and thanks Mahdel for putting this thread up. Unfortunately we can't move the date now because it's sorted with JK's. There's a huge party in Alsancak on Saturday night so we were advised to go for this Friday instead. I know that date's not good for many people who might like to come along (myself included, cos I'll have to power through my work to get out in time!), but we can always organise something else at a later date if this is a success.



We chose JK's Bar in Lapta because it seems really friendly there and we have some people coming from Guzelyurt so we wanted to make it fair by choosing a venue between there and Girne.



Kelvin will be entertaining us from about 9pm, although a few of us will be there from 7.30pm. We're hoping to keep this informal cos there's nothing worse than walking into a venue when you don't know anyone, as I wil be, and we wanted to make it as relaxed and easy to come along to as possible (ie, you can just s

Not sure, sorry Goldheart666. When I approached JK's about the meet-up they said there was a party going on in Alsancak on Saturday night, which I think loads of people are going to, so they thought it would be best to hold our do this Friday instead to avoid a clash and no one turning up to JK's. If no one knows about this party, maybe we should all roll up somewhere and create it ourselves. Right, that's the social diary sorted for this weekend then! (Apologies to whoever's party this might be - I won't gatecrash.)

How come this ended up for all ages? It wasn't the 'older' element complaining was it!! Of which I am one I might add.....

Guess it will end up with the older crowd turning up and the younger ones that it was intended for staying away. It will be interesting to see how it all goes anyway.

Thanks for your interest. I'm actually not sure if there will be another meet-up, even though it was reported in the Cyprus Star as being a regular event. Simply cos there weren't many people there in the end and I felt a bit embarrassed! But maybe if we do have enough interest then another night could be arranged. Or, if anyone else is willing to put their name to it, feel free to go ahead and organise!
