Hello to you Sue, If you need a penpal then I can be it for you.

If, however, you just want a source of info then the Forum is the best place for it.

There is plenty to do here - if you can be bothered to find it, do you drive? If not, then have driving lessons here and get yourself a little car.

Have you any friends at all here? It will not be hard to make friends here, we are all in the same boat as it were, the only difficulty is that you are single again (am I being presumptious?) I am sure that there are lots of single ladies here of our age anyway. (and a few who wouldn't mind getting away from their better halves for a couple of hours too)!

Best wishes to you. Can I advise you - if you are bringing your stuff over to just bring everything and decide when you are here what you do not want to keep. Lots of people moan that they left this and that in the UK because they thought they would not need it and then found that they did!

Take care

Re message 6

This is good advice, it gives you a year or so to seek out the best area for you.

I would also advise NEVER BUY OFF PLAN

Only buy a property which you can see touch etc and make sure it has a KOCAN (the deeds to the property) make sure your connected to mains water and electricity.

Hi Sue, Message 6 is probably the best advice you will ever receive.

Hi Lilaclady, Agree that message 6 is the very best advice to be given. Have you and your partner thought of buying a shell and finishing it off to your own design? I do know of one which has Kocan, water and electricity in place and also has the advantage of ALL planning permissions.

Will email you if you are interested.

whatever you decide wish you luck for the future.

lilaclady...When I said RENT, I didn't mean for now I meant Rent , to avoid A, buying a house that is sub standard,B,buying a house you may never legally own, and C,a houses which looks good on the outside but harbours great faults below the surface.."Buy a Piece of SH.T you get a piece of SH.T All the best: DO NOT THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY....many "clever dicks"here who thought they new best have come unstuck ,or realised that they should have rented....It's not safe to buy here no matter what you are told by ANYONE .......

Hi Sue, there are lots of people in your age group here so you should soon make friends but my advice to you is get involved! Join one of the charities or societies, which will help you meet new people thro social events and fund raising. Support the charities in their social events, this usually means a great night out, a chance to meet people as well as helping a good cause. We have been here 5 years and do not regret any of it but heed the advice about renting - it is the safest way to live here. Good luck, I am sure we will meet up at some point when you arrive because I run a stall at Lambousa market - see you there!!

All the best from Pam

But you have several penpals if the replies on the forum are anything to go by Sue. Keep posting here, keep on reading here and do not be too influenced by the negativity you will sometimes encounter.

I agree with all the comments about renting and honestly, wish I had done so myself but 7 years on its too late for regrets now, we will just make the best of it.

I hope you will enjoy N Cyprus, do you know that you will only get a 90 day visa when you come here and that you must then either leave the country or have already applied for temporary residency (STILL VISITOR STATUS).

When we first came here, we stayed for a month, second time we stayed for 10 weeks at a different time of year. We certainly did not rush into it, we wanted to be absolutely sure we could settle here and we did NOT burn our bridges in the UK. This gives me a 'cushion' if it all goes awry someday.

We love it here, we have made a lot of effort to learn the language also. Very important.

Has anyone replied to berrak, seems to be a stalker on the board, just leaving his e-mail address on a number of posts.

i was informed the other day by a Cypriot man who worked in the land registry office, that Turkish title + pre 74 are not being issued to none Cypriots. And that this has been the case for some time!

Some People use it as a selling tool for land or Villa's but it is not untill 18 months or so down the line when permission Purchase is sort/ rejected, that it comes to light.

I wait with baited breath for the next lot of comments.... but I have no reason unless otherwise proved to disbelieve this chap.

Any one else any other update on the subject ....
