My son sent some money which had been in his suitcase from a holiday here.

It is a total of 190 ' million ' ytl.

Could anyone tell if it is still possible to change this at a bank.

I think there is a bank in Nicosia that will change them.

There was, there was a 250,000 a 500,000 and a million and many others 5 mill 10 mill and 20 mill to name a few.

million tl yes but not million ytl becuase ytl means yeni turk lira (new turkish lira)

The old YTL notes can be changed, but the old TL (the millions etc) notes are long gone and can not be exchanged.

Pugwash re your message 5 you are wrong, there was never ever a 1 million YTL note or coin.

this is totaly wrong the yeni turkish lira was issued to replace the millions therefore there either YTL notes or they are million notes they cannot be both

Have just been to the bank ( HSBC ) and the money was exchanged with out aany problem.
