British film The King's Speech has been crowned best picture at the Oscars, with star Colin Firth named best actor.

Tom Hooper was named best director for the film, which also won for best original screenplay at the ceremony.

I understand that the HM the Queen was very moved by the film, portraying as it does, her dear father's struggle with a speech impediment exacerbated by his own father's bullish and brutish behaviour.



OK they did tone down the 'plummy' royal accents a fair bit but it was a thoroughly well made film of the highest quality.

Best film I have watched for months, deserved all the praise it go and more.........saw The Black Swan the same week, absolutely rubbish in my opinion.........not in the same league at all........
