Steve Dickinson Eden Estates, may not be the cheapest but you pays for what you get - had a claim last year only had policy 4 days absolutely no probs - easier than claiming in the UK with Steve

Halil Atakan, tel: 0533-8650198. Good cover with major Turkish insurance companies, good prices and excellent service. He will come to you and, if you have a claim, he is out like a shot to sort everything out. Have recommended him to a lot of people over the years and don't know anybody who has been disatisfied.

Went to Creditwest for peace of mind after NOT getting any from Steve Dickinson.

They were very professional, he was anything but.

I would highly recommend Green Paradise who are agents for Gunes Sigorta (a Turkish insurer). They are very professional and will visit you at home to discuss and recommend what cover you need. The contact is Hazan Ercelik a very efficient and qualified lady. Tel 0392 821 1851. Her office is in Alsancak.

I have worked in Insurance for over 40 years and she knows her stuff!

mess 1 - The typical trnc policy has more holes in it than swiss cheese - be very very careful !!

And often the people who are selling it haven't got a clue - just flogging insurance "on the side" to earn an extra few quid.....

trnc vaughan and lambruska gordon are big drinking buddies of Steve Dickinson - so read into that what you will.......

I owned an insurance brokerage in the uk for 30 years and i would say, the most comprehensive policy i saw whilst living i the trnc was from CreditWest and the people who work there speak very good english and understand the product well (Naci in Kangerangaloo branch and Nesrin in Karakum branch spring to mind).........

Also CreditWwest have proper re-insurance, underwritten by a huge global insurer - meaning if the island is hit by huge earthquakes, you stand more chance of getting your claim paid................

Oh and if anyone tells you that "you are fully covered" - be very wary.............

Totally agree with message 11, Mr Dickinsonm unprofessional to say the least. Now with HSBC who gave 30% discount for no claims.........even without the promised letter of confirmation from Mr Dickinson.

mess 15 - my point exactly - Stuart does car hire an "flogs a bit of insurance on the side" - he was a Chemist in the uk for crying out loud !

Has he got professinal indemnity insurance as an agent, in case he gives duff advice ad everything falls flat on it's face ?? what do you think ??

Not certain what you are trying to prove here.

We have done business with Stuart which includes car and house insurance for 3 years now and have never had any problems.

Its not what you are its what you deliver and Stuart can't be faulted.

Sorry to disagree with your views.

mess 17 - you are wrong, you have bought from an agent - who probably represnts just ONE insurance company.....

so how does he / you have any experience as to other poducts available and there comparitive cover ??

And don't get hod winked into thinking all the policies in the TRNC are the same - they are not....

What about re-insurance ? - some insurers don't have it - what if the one you are with doesnt have it and the island is hit by earth quakes and there isn't enough in the pot?

and as a man with a shed load of experience in this field, the only time you will find out about policy coverage when a huge claim occurs - that's the proof of the puding......

before i plumped for CreditWest, i visited several places that were offering insurance and took specimins of the proposed contracts - and n the whole, the cover was shockingly poor - some "policies" wouldn't be alowed in the uk because of how they were worded....

so, its all well and good buying it from a "mate"

Negative Nick WHO ARE YOU?????? Instead of 'shedding the load of experience' that you claim you have or shedding the load of c..p that i notice that you constantly dish out on here do something useful and keep your mouth shut. Your kind of nastiness only serves one thing NOTHING so if you are going to be useful make a suggestion and stop attacking people that have done nothing to you....BE NICE NEGATIVE NICK .......or get a life away from the keyboard and stop us from feeling sorry for you

darkeyes.......I think my posts do MAKE SENSE (and no need to shout by the way). I simply said that I would not use Steve Dickinson again, after having had that experience. In case it is my reference to a letter that doesn't make sense to you, it is the letter that you normally get from your insurer to confirm that you have had no claims in the past.........does that MAKE SENSE enough for you?

What I would like to know is , do they stick to their coverage or do they flake out and come up with fine print to get out of it,

A lot of insurance sales but has anyone made any claims with any company and ended up getting paid?

Just make sure you are covered for everything you are paying for.

We are with Gunes Sigorta and thankfully have not needed to make a claim yet..

Same question about fully comp. on cars?

mess 28 - James - you are making yourself look like a bitter and twisted old fool, digging up old "insurance" pots trying to slag off creditwest...

I owned an insurance brokerage in the uk for 30 years and i would say, the most comprehensive policy i saw whilst living i the trnc was from CreditWest and the people who work there speak very good english and understand the product well (Naci in Kangerangaloo branch and Nesrin in Karakum branch spring to mind).........

all of my insurance policies were with Creditwest - read into that what you will.........

if you have a genuine gripe - may i suggest you go to their head office in lefkosia and speak to "creditwest rep"

The problems here is too many English names that offer they can properly speak English. When it comes to insurance of your property this has to be done with local companies and for that is Credit West an very good option (I have done that myself).

The rest coming from outside I would not trust them more then letting the fox watch the chickens as they can always find a way out to avoid to pay if something goes wrong.

Guys you are living in Northern Cyprus and this IS NOT England, so better adapt to the rules here. There is good local insurance companies here and Credit West is one of them. If you want to buy it from someone with an English name then do it in England where the juristiction will follow as well. Here nobody gives a heck about rules and laws in the UK

Don't use Can Sigorta

We have been with them for several years, but when we had a problem with a wall being damaged last year it was the old "not our problem go away". All very friendly and good at taking the premiums before mind....

Arranged mine through Ian Smith Estates and they are getting Creditwest policies. Think they check on which is the best value and advise accordingly. As with all things to do with IS Estates...very pleasant and helpful!

message 36, I get the smell of commission here again, why pay for nothing when you can get it directly from Credit West they speak English as well.

Its better to go to the source and to know the source, means knowing people in Credit West as if there is any problems they are the people you will end up dealing with and not the guy who gets the commission.

You say they check on which is the best value and advise accordingly, are you sure that means best value for you???? I recommend you to be less naive and take charge of this yourself.

I've been trying to phone the KARAOĞLANOĞLU branch (as they say it's an expat friendly? branch) about home insurance this morning but they don't answer their phone. Is that an indication of their customer service?

Does one have to go into the branch to get service?

The saga continues, gripping I know! Fed up with phoning KARAOĞLANOĞLU branch, I phoned Catalkoy and they answered this morning. Lady that deals with insurance was out but would phone me back within the hour. No call so I phoned and actually spoke to the lady at 2.30pm. Trouble was they were now closed for the day and would I phone back tomorrow? Err no.

Our insurance has been placed through Stuart Lowe since we purchased our property. A VERY small crack "appeared" in the glass of one of our patio doors. Stuart was informed of this, he came up to the bungalow to check the damage and within a couple of hours we had a replacement double glazed unit fitted.
