At 45 years old,I thought my chance to play in the local sunday league cup final had gone,so when my local team made the final I was delighted.



The big day arrived and stood in the tunnel,I dont normally do nerves but Im going too be honest,I was shi**ing my pants.



As the first half started,I was struggling with the pace of the game and hardly had a touch of the ball,the game was passing me by,my big chance was ebbing away

The half time whistle went and Im sure I cut a lonely figure in the changing rooms,sat there feeling sorry for myself.As we ran out for the second half though,my son shouted out from the crowd that I was doing well,and this spurred me on too make him proud no matter what.



With just 5 minutes to go,my one big chance came.This was my moment,and I was going too take it.Our right winger Tony swung in a deep corner,which was headed just out of the box.

As the ball looped in the air,I seemed to find some super human energy,defying my 45year old body and making up 15 yards,were I met the ball full on the volley,and it was one of those you just know is in as soon as you hit it and sure enough,like an arrow it flew into the top corner,the ground stunned.



This was the greatest moment of my life.I sprinted too the corner flag,shirt over head,sliding too my knees.As I lay there lapping up the moment,my joy was short lived as a group of opposition players ran over screaming : 



"What the hell are you doing Ref?"

West ham have revealed how they intend to reduce the amount of seats in the Olympic stadium from 80,000 to 60,000.



The first game there will be against Millwall.
