Just wanted to offer praise where praise is due!

We are having work done to our villa and cannot fault the builders!

Ozkan Gayde ( 905 338 509 363) and his brother Ziggy (though I am sure I haven't spelt that correctly :() have been absolute stars.

The work there are doing is mainly rectifying the mess of the the original 'squinty eyed / lopsided builder' (talk about the house that Jack built!) and it is so reassuring to see what things are beginning to look like with a competent builder on board.

I know some people have had horror stories ----- but here is one with a happy ending!

We can also do nothing but praise our builder for the fabulous job he did for us his name is Kamel his company is Hedron. The quaility of the workmanship and his thoughtful and caring attitude at every stage of the build made all the difference to us and to our home, we came through all the work with a smile on our face and we are so grateful to him for all he has done.

Thanks Kamel your a star.

Osman and his team recently made a superb job of renewing the patio tiles, which included the area around the pool and all around the house. They actually raised the level of the whole lot from what had been originally laid when the house was built. Their attention to detail was impeccable and faultless! His price for the job was more than reasonable and, of course, there was extra, unforseen work that his guys did that he simply wouldn't charge for, even when we pointed it all out to him - more than fair, I'd say!

Osman, who speaks good English, can be contacted through 'Ronnies Furniture' - +90 392 815 5722.

At present, I understand that Osman is rectifying a 'dump-it-and-run' job for another forum member, who told me that he is doing a superb job.

Incidentally, Osman has been working with 'Ronnies' guys for many years, as they regularly need him and his team when erecting pergolas, etc.

Great to hear we can recommend builders ....

could we not get a section specifically listing recommended builders / workmen etc? Just a thought.

Ozkan Gayde is still our top man, doesn't even complain when the jobs he has to do are complicated by the original builders poor workmanship.

Highly recommended!

Most of us quietly beaver away, doing what we do, it's nice to get a pat on the back sometimes.

Re message 6, Osman and his team of brothers was the builder of choice who did the renovation of my Bahceli villa and added the missing damp proof course under the tiles, and rebuilt and insulated the roof as well as reinforcing the foundations.

If you are looking to buy cheap, go elsewhere, if you want the job done properly, hire him.

Simbas .... I didn't read anything 'naughty' in your request...until those with wicked minds started posting!

Ozkan comes from Nicosia so is prepared to travel. Whilst he speaks perfect English, Ziggy (his brother) who has over 31 years years of experience (plethora of quailifciations) doesn't so, between the two of them and their team language barriers and techinical 'issues' are easily overcome.

ozkan can be contacted via ozkangayde@yahoo.co.uk and 90536 850 93 63 ( not sure if the '9' should be dropped if calling from the TRNC).

Halfful ... we had a leaky terrace too. Actually, we didn't realise it was leaky until Ozkan showed us. The terrace roof can be easily viewed from the patio above but we didnt realise the drainage had been put in above the water line (if that makes sense) so was totally ineffective! Because it wasn't something we had budgetted for he made sure we saw him remove the tiles and see how sodden the xx was underneath so we didn't think it wasn't necessary!

Just had an email from stuart Lowe who visited our villa with a surveyor. According to Stuart (who has been extremely helpful with the insurance) the surveyor was extremely pleased with the high standard of work being done by

Oskan Gayde and his team ....

so there, more praise and from someone who knows their stuff!!

ps aren't positive posts so much more 'uplifting'?

Simbas, Ozkan has just called me. He wanted to clarify something I hadn't understood instead of just doing it. As it turns out , he was perfectly correct and I am reassured once more that we are lucky to have had him recomended to us.

He has done so many 'little' extras that whilst obviously were needed, I didnt think to ask him to do. / understood needed to be done... and the all included price has mostly remained the same.

OZKAN GAYDE...

Wonder if he does busman holidays to the UK...have more than a few jobs I'd love him and the team to do!!
