| Irish people will gert the bread reference joke. The whole world will get the joke of the (all) Ireland team beating the English at that most English game of cricket. At least we will have something to smile about for little while in our IMF/ECB misery. Life cannot be all bad if you can beat the English at Cricket. Bring on Wales and England in the Rugby now!!!! | Dublinderm, on behalf of the few players in that other mighty cricket playing nation, the Netherlands (with a total of some 1,000 players beating England in 2010 and almost repeating this amazing achievement in 2011...) I like to congratulate this great Irish team..! |

Yeah, me too derm. That O'Brien is a legend. The beauty of his innings was that he actually batted, and not just thrashed. Amazing what you can do when you decide to have a red hot go....

England: 327-8 (50.0 overs) Ireland: 329-7 (49.1 overs) OK they won but it was a close game... Revel in it like the Dutch, it won't last long..

Hi again, Hans before today the Netherlands v England game was one of the best I had ever seen - it was real edge of the seat stuff. Almost a bit upset. I have just watched the highlights coverage on BBC and despite knowning the outcome I felt nothing but despair after the England innings. What an amazing turn around with new records being set all over. The fastest one day century, the farthest world cup 6, and the greatest catch up of an opening score in cricket world cup. It may only last for a day but all of us on this island will revel in while it lasts. Best wishes, DD

Liz, Do not despair. When the suicide rate in your country outdoes the road accident death rate, then you really know you are in trouble. 1,000 Irish a WEEK are emigrating (not including the Eastern Europeans leaving here). Be happy. DD
