The cost of living is still a lot cheaper than the UK. Food items are about the same and a lot depends on your lifestyle. I couldn't live like this in the UK, I'm retired here and not in receipt of a State Pension but our works pensions and savings go a lot further than they ever could in the UK. Some things like cars are more expensive but keep their price better than the UK so it probably works out about even, however petrol and running costs are a bit lower. The Council and Utilities costs are are much cheaper than the UK but have risen over the two years we have been here - but still very manageable. Going out for meals is a lot cheaper here you can always go over the border for those little food and other items that are cheaper there - than here. All in all, it is cheaper to live here than most comparable European stlye places and the enevitable rises are usually less than elsewhere in the Med |
