went for a meal at this small retaurant in Girne (Cafe-de-Paris) been many times before and always enjoyed the food especially the curries Chicken Acher was my favourite. Sad to say but the waiter and chef have left and my husband and I were so dissapointed with the food, we will not be going again. Does anyone know where the chef has gone from this restaurant as I would love to be able to have his curries again.

Never used it for food but was the cheapest for bottled Efes in Town at 3.5Tl. Used to work a lot with tourist groups so needs to find a good, speedy chef to replace the old one to sustain that part of its business.

The chef and waiter who are brothers had to return to Pakistan for a short while because their mother was very ill and has since died.Think they are back any day now.

Had lunch there yesterday and the food was as good as ever. Always a favourite haunt when shopping in town as their cappuccino is one of the best and the chicken wraps are an ideal healthy lunch.

RE msg 1 (Lulu10) & 2: And what did the owner say when you complained? Or did you decide on the spot to attack and damage the reputation of "Café de Paris" only on Cyprus44..?!

We did complain to the owner not the same curry and not as good all he said was different chef. It was our opinion as to the quality of the meal and I am sure people on this forum are intelligent enough to go and try restaurants for themselves not just rely on my opinion. As for ruining reputations think the owner did that by not explaining the situation to us. Glad he is to get his chef and waiter back hope he realises what great staff he has. Sorry if I do not have a good opinion everytime I go to a restaurant but it is MY opinion and others must make up their own minds.

In the past seven+ years I have spent many pleasant hours on the terrace of "Café de Paris". The owner and his staff have always been friendly, the food was always good and the prices for drinks are still reasonable. After shopping in Girne (or another visit to the Court...) it's a good place to calm down...

We also enjoy stopping of at "Café de Paris". when in town, good value lunch or cold drink watching the world go by . It was the first place we stopped for a coffee on our first visit to Cyprus some years ago, and the friendlyness of staff and patrons added to our already great overall opinion of northern Cyprus.

Well done for posting Lulu10. At least we all know that the chef and waiter are now back and your post has given people the chance to applaud this little cafe. It's a shame that the manager did not fully explain the circumstances to you but you can return knowing that your favourite curry will be back to normal.

Pugwash, Cafe de Paris is in the area between Kombos Taxis and Nur Butiq, opposite the square.

lulu - you are entitled to your opinion. When will people realise that a forum provides a means for the airing of opinions in a public domain. The original thread, to my mind, did not represent an attack. Just my opinion. I shall also, as I still have free will, be giving this Establishment 'a go', when I get a chance to.

Ref this posting - I don't see it as an attack at all. The initial input is quite a well balanced posting relating to a change of quality at the cafe and even explains the reason for the drop in quality. As a result everyone now knows why it dropped, as mentioned in an earlier post, and so all has ended up well.

"where would i go if coming from the lefkosa"

You would go straight over at the Girne/Lefkosa roundabout down to the Colony hotel/Vakif Bank, turn right at the roundabout and turn left into the public car park. Then leave the car park on foot in a westerly direction and cross the road and go over between Kombos Taksi/Dolmus and Nur Butik. It's on the left hand side just past Cafe Doping and a couple of shops.

Fantastic Chicken Shish... as already stated. They are the ones we judge all other shish by... and very few come up to scratch.

We've been going there for years, used to be a highlight for us, but haven't been now for several months.

Last time was very disappointing with slow service and very very poor food., no reasons given for the delays or why the food had deteriorated.

DC - We didn't complain too much because we were dining with friends, but we won't be going again.

Can certainly recommend another cafe in the immediate area.

An aside, this is a information/chat board where people should be able to feel free to express their opinions, and not be harassed for doing so.

For "newbies" make sure you ask for the full menu because they usually just give out the lunch menu designed for tourists (wraps and kebabs, etc priced in Euro).

RE msg 1, lulu10: If your message had been better written (including the owner's reaction) - some of the replies would probably not have been posted.

RE msg 24, vadiev: In your hurry to write a silly message about me, you have probably missed the fact that this thread is about "Café de Paris" in Girne.

We usually have the wraps because we like them, 2x Efes and 2x wraps 15Tl. Lunch sorted

The omelettes and salads are very good too. Gem of a place.

Ahmet's attitude might have seemed off hand when you complained but in actual fact his English is quite limited but if you talk to him in French he is fluent.

Lulu10,

You have given Cafe de Paris the best publicity it has had for years. Thank you. I had stopped going there because I thought it had changed hands. Happily, as this is not the case, I will definitely pop in for an omellette (the best I've ever tasted), the next time I'm in Girne.
