a la carte cuisine - fish, meat nicely done - and the wine is not expensive comparing to most places - the best way is to have a look by yourself -

If not traditional please could you describe the menu - or what you had and what made it so brilliant for you. I have not run a restaurant but many times eaten in the most amazing gastronomique venue's en france and not much has surpassed it in in the UK apart from the obvious overpriced michellin star eateries. I love good food and wine!!!

i am not going to argue about the food - We had a lovely meal - it is our opinion - you never know until you try it by yourself what ever the country is and believe me if you know france or french gastronomie you can have a very nice meal and good wine for affordable prices you do not need to go the star restaurant !!! be curious is the aim of gastronomie and then you can talk about it -so many people deny cyprus restaurants -

we liked it - final point -

We would like to join Sylvie in her praise of the Stonearch restaurant in Girne.

Went there Saturday evening on her recommendation and had a very enjoyable meal.

The food on offer was a refreshing change from the same old, same old that is dished up in the harbour. The squid starter was the best I have tasted for a long time, not those chewy rings you get everywhere & my salmon & terriaki noodles were delicious.

The service was very good, attentive but not in your face and the prices for the food & wine very reasonable.

True there are the likes of Gordon ramsey, Raymond blanc and Hestonville that do charge a lot of money but not all Michelin starred rertaurants follow the same way. One of the criteriea for gaining a star is value for money so this can be the likes of the above where £160 buys you 4 hours of gastronomy or you can get a 3 course lunch or set menu at a starred restaurant for £19.95 as we did in London yesterday.

Check the web sites of the restaurants for details.

center of GIRNE - opposite BELEDIYE

Please can you elaborate on directions. Went to the Belediye next to police station but couldn't find the restaurant. Do you mean the Belediye just accross from the wednesday market or somewhere else?
