Went to Bo Thai on Wednesday night. Haven't been for some time and had forgotten how good it is. Had Thai which was excellent, but will try the Irish menu next time (beef in Guinness, pot roasted chicken etc - looked lovely). Also noticed that they now have a non spicy children's menu.

I had the Irish menu the other evening at Bo Thai and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had gone intending to eat Thai but decided to sample the new menu.

I had the pot roasted chicken with colcannon and vegetables with a very tasty apple and herb soup to start.

Lovely surroundings and the service was excellent. Will try the beef in Guinness next time.

Glad to see some positive posts about this establishment, always fancied trying it but put off by all the previous negative posts.

Go and make your own mind up halffull I think some people seem to have a bit of a vendetta about this place judging by some of the very personal attacks I have read on here.

We will have to give this one a try and make our own mind up.

Do like Thai food but haven`t tasted any for a while now.

Appreciate people have different tastes and agree you have to make your own mind up.

Shame some people will not let you express an opinion on a forum.

You might like mash, I might hate mash ( just an example ) but you should be allowed to voice your experience / opinion????

Lilli - "hi olddogs do they do real potato bread and bacon and cabbage, im craving it." And who can blame you!

There used to be a restaurant in Protaras that did, sorry it's a long way to go!

Not quite sure how my pal and I managed to eat the Ulster Fry! It was huge!

I agree LooseBoots, about opinions, but if you read earlier threads about this restaurant some people have written really offensive comments about the owner.

Constructive criticism is helpful, personal attacks are not necessary or helpful.

Our family of 4 went to the Bo Thai a few weeks ago as my husband and I absolutely love Thai food. We have been several times before but only as a couple. The reason for this posting is to let people know that the Bo Thai is definately NOT a place to take kids, infact in all the years we have lived here this restaurant is the only one that we were not made to feel welcome. We arrived early, so not to upset any customers who would prefer not to have children in such a restaurant and to be honest my kids were actually quite well behaved on the night. We arrived at 7.30pm, ordered our food, eaten, and was given the bill (without even asking for it!) by 8.00pm!! we wasn't even asked if we would like dessert or coffee, no, we was rushed in as quick as we was rushed out! Well I won't be rushing back, the chilly reception we received was totally out of order. I will stick to the Turkish owned restaurants who welcome us with open arms.

my ten pennyworth.......

The owner of the place is a miserabe bug*er - giving you a "Basil Fawlty" dining experience and as to the actual food - having lived in Thailand for 18 months - the food resembles the stuff you get from a down market chineese take away, rather than authentic Thai........

and portion sizes are measly - a main course is the size of a starter in most places.

There are far better, cheaper and more welcoming places to visit than Bo Thai.............

All in all i'd give it a neg nick 2 / 10 (and luckily i don't give them out very often)

What absolute rubbish, we have been going to Bo Thai for a couple of years and have always been

made very welcome the food is always excellent and having lived in Asia for 25 years we know what to

expect from the various dishes.

Golfmad, obviously you don't ever take kids with you. We have also visited Thailand and the rest of Asia several times, the food is not authentic at Bo Thai, but it is generally quite good. Although saying that it didn't have time to reach my stomach we was ushered out so quick!

Another notch on the dreaded C44 gun - almost another kill of a local business/restaurant.

Every bodies Idea of a good night out is different, its down to each individuals taste. My way of thinking GO TRY IT, If you don't like it don't go back.......

We have been told about lots of places that we shouldn't go to.. If someone tells me No I will always go and try it out and make my own mind up..

If something is wrong say it to them, so they can change it. You do not have to put it on C 44

Times are hard as Dutch crusader says "almost another kill of a local business/restaurant" so sad!!!!!!!!!

I think some of you overestimate the "power" of Cyp 44

Businesses die or fail due to a combination of the product they offer, at the price they offer it at and how the service is not because someone posts that they did not like to food or service at a certain restaurant. Those comments are just as valid as the ones that praise certain establishments.

We go to Bo Thai regularly, always enjoy the food and Des has always been attentive and pleasant......speak as you find ! Re msg 13, it must have been a very long time since you visited Bo Thai as they stopped doing the "tapas" sized portions over 3 years ago.....

RE msg 11, pugwash: (...) I have eaten there several times and really like Thai food however I just do not like the way Bo Thai does it. (...)

▶ If I ever read a funny (more adequate: silly) message - it's your one liner. You obviously went back "several times" although "you do not like the way Bo Thai" does your Thai food. Is such an addition to this thread serious? I find it too hard to believe.

Actually DC it is you who is silly, condescending and overblown.

The first time I went the food in general I found disappointing, no complaints about the service.

I went a second time with friends who wanted to go and we all felt much the same, subsequently I have been back once, my opinion does not change. For me it is not great and not bad/terrible, as I said personally I am not that keen on the way they prepare the Thai food, see also message 15.
