When we start a "Famagusta Walk" I always give a short introduction to the history of this wonderful town, although I avoid to mention too many names and dates. They would go 'ear in, ear out', as we say (translated) in the Netherlands...

However, if you'd like to know more about the background of medieval Famagusta - read these two pages of my web site, which I've just updated and partly rewritten (with an extended list of resources if you REALLY want to know it all...).

Just added on the pages mentioned above: a link to my CLICKABLE map of Famagusta with Lusignan, Venetian and early Ottoman Turkish remains (churches/mosques, chapels and more). The map needs some updating also, which I'll try to do today.

WORLD HERITAGE: I've updated again the map of Walled Famagusta (now version 1.6) with several (un)identified Byzantine/Lusignan/Venetian/Ottoman Turkish buildings and ruins.

Click on a 'hot spot' (white inside with a red outline) and you'll be shown one or more Photobooks about the chosen object.
