Little Brown Creepy Crawlies

For 2 months there has been a lot of little brown creepy crawlies around my garden and sometimes in the house. They are slow moving, dark brown, approx. 3 cms, long and thin (a bit like caterpillars or slow millipedes). Several other people I know in Karsiyaka have the same. I have never seen these before in the 5 years I have lived here but then I probably wouldn't notice an odd one.

Anyone know what they are and why so many this year?? And is it just Karsiyaka??

We also have them here near Edremit John although now the numbers are diminishing, they remind me of miniature slugs. I am forever sweeping them off the ceiling of the patio and into the stones,. where if they are slugs they hopefully will erish.
