I notice as soon as i start using this forum, i start receiving these scam emails, ie people begging me to help them get money out of these banks, but they cannot do this without your help, obviously they are going to pay you a huge wedge of money, BUT of course need your bank account details to be able to do do. The last one i received was even worse than the rest stating she would be assasinated if i did not help her leave her country and of course stump up some money. I know there are some low lifes on this earth but these emails are DISGUSTING, the thing i am worried about it positively comes from using this forum has anyone else had these problems?

Hi there. Am new to the board today (although know it well) and have to answer you first to reassure you, as has Paddywack that these horrible mails are nothing to do with Cyprus 44. Like Paddywack I have been receiving them for years.

You really have three options:

1. Just delete

2. Bounce to sender

3. Bounce and block.

Unfortunately sometimes nasty people steal your e mail address and yu will find that a nastye mail has come from yourself. I had an e mail from myself (my hotmail address) to me, offering me the chance to lengthen something I have never possessed! Needless to say, I just deleted it! But please br eassured, it is not Cyprus44 it is other nasty people trying to extract money or to use your personal information for a passport etc.

Your email address will undoubtably fall ito the hands of some unsrupulous characters and they will use it as they see fit, begging, fraud, soliciting business.......Im sure we all get emails from property and finance companies that try to sell you something around the Med and they buy these details from people who have large numbers to sell (not suggesting 44 does this). Its a by product of "going online" unfortunatly just add the address to your spam box and ignore them

Yes, also got these begging emails, usually into Spam, but occasionally come into inbox.

I delete immediately. Most seem to come from Nigeria. Haven't had any for a while, thank g..

but I do get lot into my spam box offering:- sexual encounters, debt relief, horoscope reading etc.

all of which I have never asked for and do not want. Have tried unsubscribing but they keep coming.

I don't know how to block them as I see not way of doing it on my computer.

They have nothing to do with Cyprus44, but I wonder about Facebook which I joined recently.

Just delete without reading - I get them and my e mail isn't on here, I think you will find an awful lot of people do too, mostly they go to spam anyway, as soon as you see a foreign sounding or if you name, just delete without opening unless you want a good laugh.

One of many reason I never leave my e.mail in the public forum, and why IF I ever joined Facebook (and not likely to) I would always have it on - Private? is it? where the only people who could access it, would be nominated friends or family - never would it be an open account (don't know the terminology, but you know what I mean).

I had one not long ago offering me a job in Cyprus, copied the company's logo e-mail, the works. I strung them along till they phoned me from the office in Famagusta??? funny it was a Nigerian number?

They kept on asking me for the registration fees etc. eventually i told him he was a "naughty boy" Yorkshire style. these scams are a daily occurence you just have to be careful.

Want to reassure you (if that is the terminology) that I started to receive these long befopre I joined Facebook and was living in another country anyway. A lot depends as to who your e mail server is - some seem to be more vulnerable than others and there are some clever hackers out there.

Actually, I'm tagging on to e-mails to warn about phone calls telling you the caller is from Microsoft and is advising you of a virus infecting your machine. It's a scam but they have talked some people into allowing access to their computers where the scammers have picked up personal info details including credit card info. It may just be Australian's on their list so this is just a heads-up to be on the alert. No, I'm not one of the suckers, by the way, I enjoy giving the caller a lecture about instant karma for indulging in illegal rip-off activities. They hang up real fast!

hI mO AND BRY, You are right that this nasty piece of work is Australia based. And there are some of us thinking that Australia is a perfect place. I guess it would be were it not for the imperfect people who live there. Was warned of that scam by Aussie friends, but these nasty habits can creep around the world as 'Creeps' spread their evil nets even wider.

By the way, a big personal apology that a promised e mail has not winged its way to you. Not forgotten oh beautiful lady! Soon - I promise.

To save some of us a lot of bother, could messacge 22 give us an e mail address to which these nasty e mails can be sent. Great idea, but where do we get the address unless you give it. Thanks in advance, as I am sure lots of us would like toknow. We could end up flooding Scotland Yard with litter!
