Hiya!

We are thinking of moving over this year and wondered if many ex pats live in Bellapais?

I love the area and our daughter is registered to attend the school there if we decide to come.

Is it a nice place to bring up a young family?

Certainly some years ago Bellapais was seen as one of the more desirable places and property prices reflected that, though I do not know if the current depressed market now makes that a factor. Although it is not at a great altitude it can be considerably colder and damper in the Winter months than many of the areas near coastal levels. It is of course affected by tourism, such as that now might be, which some do not have a problem with though others who live here all year round prefer to be near but not in the tourist districts.

Everone will have likes and dislikes with all areas. My villa is in Catalkoy and we love the area, i would look at Catalkoy, Dogankoy and Ozankoy all only a couple of miles from Bellapais.

All nice areas

We livce in Alsancak .... but this is only 5 miles out of Girne.

Really unless you live out at the Esentepe area nowhere is very far from anywhere else here. Certainly in comparison with the UK

You don't make it clear as to whether you want to be WITH ex pats, or AWAY from them? Most areas are a good mix As to Bellapais do you mean centre or on the fringes? The centre is impossible for parking unless you get a place with parking of its own. Down below does not matter as to whether it is Bellapais, Ozankoy, Dogankoy etc, etc.

Also with regard to Tatum1, remember that there is the new 'motorway' which speeds up time no end into town and out the other side.

When does your daughter start school and when are yo coming out. Can't you do a really good 'rek, kie' before you actually pick a place. And will you bew working? And so, where?

If that is the area you like, you will find plenty of choice of accommodation and quite a number of ex pats dotted around, but I think as per yhour other question, you are more likely to make friends from the school and the other parents. Always a good start when you are new to an area.

Maybe I should have said 'what work does your husband do', or maybe you are independent.

But don't worry - this place develops very quickly - the number of schools that have sprung up in recent years for English speaking children is a clear indication that you are never far from ex pats.
