Hi samblaney1985,

I have not heard of an Ikea in Northern Cyprus but if there is maybe someone can point you in the right direction. There is an Ikea in the south close to the border but you can only bring small items back to the north. They will not deliver large items to the north as far as I have heard.

There is a KFC in North Cyprus - full name Kermia Fried Chicken and the owner has replaced the Old Colonels face with his own!!! LOL

No, there is not an IKEA in North Cyprus if there was I think the RoC government would have already blown a fuse or three.

There is no Ikea in North Cyprus and the Ikea in the south will not deliver over the border. If you bring items which are flat packed you will be charged duty - approx 30% we were advised.

Pogle you will be charged 30% duty if the value is over I believe, 145 euros and you will only pay on the excess not the complete amount

From the IKEA website:

New Store Opening,.. KibrisWater Retail Park, North Cyprus,...

Directions:

BY RAIL: From Girne Railway Station take Silverlink Service from platform 4. Alight at 2nd station. From the Concourse turn right by Subway Sandwiches, pass Primark, Ikea is then on the right between Matalan and Argos.

BY BUS: From Girne Bus Terminus take 'BendyBus' N25 (remember to swipe in with your Oyster Card!) Alight at the KibrisWater Retail Park. Ikea is on your left just after MFI (More Furniture for Immigrants).

BY CAR: From Girne take the M1 and exit at Junction3. (Be careful to avoid the Dolmus Lane Cameras!). Follow the underpass, turn left into Ikea. (Please do not park in Tesco's, their security is now handled by the Turkish Army!).

Enjoy your shopping experience at Ikea!

Once you have selected your goods, proceed to the 'Pick-up Point'.

This can be recognised by the large number of English women looking for Turkish men to 'Deliver the Goods'.

No Ikea in the north and no McDonalds, sounds, to me, like a good reason to go there.

Robin Hood,

Well those 2 may not be here but, as was stated before, KFC is here and so is Burger King in the guise of Burger City.

Are you sure its actually IKEA? We loved some of the inventive rip-offs of well known store names when we were there, best one we saw was Tesko! I

I was just going to mention "Tesko" in Yeni Iskele. I met one of the new owners this afternoon and told him that it is not nice to hide behind someone's name. Apparently the person who owned Tesko sold it off to others in a very short time and I am told that the new owners are going to change the name early in the new year after completing some legal formalities.

Re: msg 11

So let run a poll, will they be changing the shop name to:

Adsa

Saynsburys

Waytrose

Or maybe Morks and Spincers

I guess we will have to wait and see.

Bob. Perhaps you were at the undergound station and not the mainline station.
