Mambo's is delicious and very good value for money. You need to book though as it gets very busy

Mambo is in Alsancak. On the main road. Starling is on the left hand side and just past that Mambo is on the right.

My mate and I have been having traditional Sunday lunches, each week for over five years now. Varying our venues each week to try all the different meals on offer.

We have settled on MAMBOs being the best value for money and therefore we now go there each alternative week, trying to better it on the other alternative week by visiting new, or other good Sunday lunch venues.

Several places provide a very good Sunday meal but MAMBOs is exceptional, especially if you like your vegitables (Normally 8/10 with each meal) and there is plenty of meat on the plate also.

You must book.

Guido's in Alsancak, Midsummer House ( Catalkoy) which re opens 15th March, Al Shaheen in Karakum are all really good, the last time we tried Patina (which used to be a favourite of ours) Management and waiting staff had all been replaced and we were very disappointed with the food and the service

Did have a nice Sunday meal at the Fez in Catalkoy last year, not sure if they are still doing them. Worth a try and not to far to travel.

The fez in catalkoy is very nice, plus they play all the football and sports, if you fancy something without sports, effendi is very nice..

Never had a bad Sunday lunch at Kings Bar, TQB, Esentepe.

Fresh, not frozen veg'. Plenty of meat and proper home made Yorkshire puddings.

And Sunday size servings. Almost too much to eat.

Doing spit roast chickens now as well. Eat in or take away, to order.

Try it. It will be a memorable experience.

I have tried many of the restaurants mentioned above for Sunday lunch and find Guido's comes out on top every time for quality .................and the quantity is more than adequate.

His Sunday lunch is not expensive.

At many of the cheaper places, I've had frozen vegies reheated god knows how many times, and meat like wafer thin leather.

Oh! And I may add that the accent of the owner is similar to German so you will feel right at home.

We have heard that the Sunday lunches are very good at Eleanor Rigbys. Not the traditional roasts though. Will give them a try and report back.

I think it is clear, a lot of places do nice roast Sunday lunches, but mine is good too, only for home consumptiion though. My Yorkshires are excellent cooked in silicone muffin containers, I swear they rise more than in a traditional tin.

Tropicana in Ozankoy is great and at 15tl for a starter & main it is fantastic value. I know of people that come all the way from Tatlisu to dine there, give it a try.

Maybe we should start a Sunday Lunch Club meet up once a month and try them all out. What do you think?
