Seem to have lost all my MBC stations - again - on the Nilesat satellite. Anyone else got them or not?

Yes satman cyprus gave us the answer, now on 12437 h 27500 see the other post.

method 1. menu

2, install

3 net search

It works, took me a long time because normally I auto tune but that did not work, have to do it manually.

I found them plus extra english film channels. If I can do it, anyone can, I am so thick.

Looks like we all have different box's with different menus. Mine is a Next YE-2000 and I am going to try to follow the idiots guide and see if I can set it up. Satman set it up for me a month ago and did a great job but so quick with the menus and keys I could not follow it. Worth having another go now and then calling him back when I screw it up completely!!! - lol.

My menu is in Turkish (unsurprisingly). Any translations for install and net search please.

When I go to Menu I get choices ie Preferences

Channels

Installation

Contig

CA

I scroll down to installation which then give me further choices Ant setup

Auto scan

Manual scan

Timer settings

Position

I scolled across to manual scan and played with it until I got there.

Hope this helps.

Hi pollymarples,

I scaned mine using "Auto Scan"

Then saved them to "favorites"

Then deleted old MBC channels that are no longer transmitting.

Hope this helps.

I have the new frequencies but they are not transmitting any programme guide. Is everyone the same?

These features are normally accessed by go to menu, installation... and you MAY encounter a pin request ( typically 4 zeros)

The SAFEST way is to automatically scan for channel updates..

If you are a technophobe.. it might be better to pay sat-man to pop round and fix the problem - better that than *lose* channels :(

Thanks Navek, I tried autoscan and it only saved MBC 3 and MBC Drama which as you know is Turkish language programmes. I did manage to get them with Manual scan and then saved them to favourites together with the other channels I found by default, i.e. Kanal 4 and Claquette TV, both were showing good

films when I found them, although with Claquette you need to use your language button to change to English.

I previously found Top MOvies T and Panorama Act with the automatic scan some time ago.

Really with all the MBC's, Foxmovies and Fox series and these other four channels playing English speaking movies, why would you need other thatn free to air.

This from someone who used a laptop for the first time 18 months ago and isn't very good with texts.

Never too old to learn.

Boy, this is fun - just how many times can I lose Nilesat before I figure out how to save the settings I wonder??? Getting loads of channels but still no MBC and no matter how I try I can not get the stupid (well it can't be me can it?) box to remember 12437 h 27500 when I finally find it in the menus!!!

Much better than paying for digiturk this is, loads of fun and all for free - what's more if it all goes TU then I can watch a DVD anyway.

Hi waddo,

It's good to do a scan once a month, to find any new channels.

I found 2 last night that were broadcasting films in English.

Nilesat Test9, with EPG & Test-12, no EPG.

Or you can trail through them all, one at a time, wet day job that though :-(

Have fun,

Navek

Thanks Pollymarples - Claquette, Panorama Action and Kanal 4 - three channels I had never found before.

I also watch Kuwait 2 and Dubai 1 which have a lot of movies. There is also a new channel called Timemovies which is only previewing at the moment - "coming soon" it says but no indication if it will be free when it arrives.

If you have Turksat there is also ATV International for movies. Also Akilli which is a Turkish "You've Been Framed" but without any commentary.

Anyone else found some obscure channels that we could all enjoy??

Well, its got to be me! No matter how I try I can only get 530 channels and no MBC - I know there are over 700 channels but as I can not select the new 12437 freq and tune on that - my box will not save that data anyway - it must be something I am not doing. Wish this box had a manual search instead of the auto/advanced/blind types but I will keep at it. One day.....................

waddo I dont know if it makes a difference but when I had manual search on the screen there is a line says network search which is usually on 'off' I put it on 'on' and ended up with 783 channels when I scanned and MCB's were in the latter

numbers. Just a thought before you implode

Hi Navek,

Nope, but I have a nice warm fire and lots of patience! When satman set this up last month he only used the remote - clue number 1 - he only pressed buttons and scrolled thru the menu's and screens (at light speed) - clue number 2 - he did not light any incense, cast chicken bones or mumble spells - clue number 3 - therefore I conclude that I am a total pratt and am missing somthing simple because I am looking too hard for somthing difficult.

Think that next steps will be to search for a guy who repairs windows and another one who can collect a Next Sat box out of the road in the rain!!!!!! Grrrrr.

Found network search - it was on so turned it off - still 530 channels! Think the answer lies in the freq and not being able to save it but still warm and having fun, opening the brandy soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think have exhausted all I can do to help, which is very little, but 100% more than I could before I stopped

being afraid to play with it. waddo I think you have to bite the bullet and ask for help from someone who knows the system you have, it might cost, so make sure they explain it to you for future use.

It is the frequency waddo, that was my problem until iI found manual inst. if you have network search it seems strange you do not have manual inst., this allows you find the freq. you require. My advice, open up the brandy purely for medicinal purposes of course.

Aha!!!!! Now have 1127 yes that is 1127 channels available on Nilesat. Forgot that my system has a motorised dish and that I had to take the positioner into account as well. If I changed the freq but did not also tell the positioner the new position then it just reverted back to normal. So if anyone needs to know what I did to fix the problem - don't ask me because it was hit and miss and eventually I hit the bull. Now I have to figure out how to re-order all the channels but still having fun out here.

THANKYOU Pollymarples, did what you said, had the same box which inspired a bit of confidence. OK now but still not more than 2 MBC channels, perhaps they are not freeview channels. If they are could you please let me know and I will get someone in to fix it.

Once again many thanks to you I just love to see the forum beiing used properly.

suehowlittle, MBC 1. 2, 3. 4, MBC Action, MBC Persia MBC Max are all free to air. At first I could only get

MBC3 AND mbc Drama which are both Turkish so of little use to us, persevered by using Manual Installation

and then when I got that far made sure network search was in the 'ON' mode pressed scan (my button is red)

and got 783 channels ( I dont have the motorised dish) but did get the other two useful channels I stated above.

Well worth the effort but is frustrating till you get what you want.

Good luck

waddo have had Top movies T for a while and Panorama Act but Claquettes TV (Nicholas Cage movie on now) and Kanal 4 are new to me. Kanal 4 I think is a mixture, good English film when I found it last night.

I tune mine in quite often, see if anything new has come along.
