If I had the money I would open a hospice / respite home. Nothing else I can add to that. Chris

I think the normal answer is launder it or hide it away from the UK taxman.

Agree with Martin. Besides I don't think you can make decent money over here running a business.

Forgive me, but I agree with Chris, nurseawful. This island needs homes for the elderly, hopefully, we'll all need then eventually. Childrens homes, respite homes are all lacking. Lapa old peoples home is getting attention at the moment, but it needs so much support to make the elderly comfortable, and the staff's job more efficient. I suggest you change the heading for this post, if you have money to start a business. At the moment on this board, animal welfare is of utmost importance.

" at the moment on this board, animal welfare is of utmost importance " GOOD POINT & TRUE I must say I agree... As the TRNC seems to be more and more fast becoming an island for the retired and elderly it would probably make good sense & good business to maybe focus on homes & care for the elderly.

As a Nursery Nurse and a Dog Groomer I am drawn to childrens homes and animal sanctuaries but as the elderly are like children only bigger, hairy and more difficult to look after if I won the lottery I would definitely help all 3 because they will all be craving the same lots of love, care and attention, which is free! Whether starting a business as a Dog Groomer becomes possible or not, I always intended to offer my skills to KAR because I know that volunteers are desperately needed. I was thinking it might be handy to microchip the hunters and their dogs, maybe that would help stop the circle of poison.

If you are so rich you can afford to run at a loss then all the things mentioned would be good for people and animals too. But, if you need to turn a profit then this is not the place the start a business. The 'powers that be' will find every way they can to tie you up in red tape, you will wonder why you bothered. NIce thought though.

An Old Peoples Home - definitely. I do what little I can for the Lapta Old Peoples Home, which has just moved to new premises right up behind Lapta. It's an old defunt Hotel and not at all suitable, but better than what they had. No mental or physical stimulation and the people, like many other locals with problems are "hidden away". They have a generator now, but it doesn't work!! However National Old People Week is coming up soon, so there will be pictures of "men in suits" with their Mercs arriving from the Government to have their photo's taken and then they'll go away for another year. Yes, if I had the money, an OPH is where a load of it would go. An Animal Sanctuary would also be on my "wish list". Tango1
