A worktop made of mosaic, whilst lovely to look at, is very unhygienic... and difficult to clean. All those nooks and crannies...

I had this in England in my country house. Looked so beautiful but when I spilt gravy on it what a nightmare getting it clean.

My kids obviously remembered it, now one has stainless steel worktops and the other two have granite so some good came of it!

You could perhaps have granite just where you might make a mess and mosaaic the other bits, would save you a lot of work

our local swimming pool has just had one wall covered in mosaics depicting the story of the town, it was made of broken bits of china (cups, saucers, plates).....looks stunning, but wouldnt like a worktop made of it, tooooooooooo hard to keep clean.

Simply coat it after with a clear sealant. BASF make a clear sealant thats available in NC.

(Not heat resistant though)
