I am very sorry too, but, lately therre seems to be a lot of posts asking about missing dogs! My question is - how do dogs that are supposed to be on a leash or behind doors in a garden keep getting lost?

This is what I hate about Cyprus 44 - Dogs can get out despite all we do to prevent it. Get a life and consider how this owner feels.

It is natural for a dog to "Find a way out of its garden" if possible. It has Nothing to do with the way the owners treat them. Occasionally mine "escape" but are eagerly awaiting my return outside the kitchen door !(With docked tails wagging when I do come back home!) I hope Poppy returns to you as mine always return to me.

| Msgs 6 - and 7! Has anyone asked what the dog thinks? I know the Brits are animal lovers, and "the Englishman's best friend is his dog" and all that (and I say that in a good way - not being sarcastic or anything), but looking at it from their perspective, don't you think the dogs have a good reason for wanting to be free? birdman; your dog returns because he probably knows where to find food when he is hungry. Saying its natural for a dog to "Find a way out of its garden" is no excuse for me to witness dead dogs on the new Girne - Alsancak dual carriageway every week! Last week I saw no less than 2 different dogs wearing collars but loose on the side of the road on two occasions! Last week was not unique in that sense either... I owned an alsation at mum's home in Karakum for 3 years, and not even once had he managed to get out of the garden's perimeter by her own efforts. Telling others to "get a life" is not a valid argument - neither is it defence against a valid point made.

I must agree with msg 3 bigOz. I see so many dogs with collars around my area, I too do not understand how these dogs get lost. Theres three dogs with collars on them which i see all the time, one with red and the other 2 with brown collars. I get happy when when I see owners searching for their dogs on 44 because I know they love their pets, but then again I dont understand how these dogs are lost if they have people looking after them.

blade ' Microchip the dogs then they can be found quicker. ' A dog has to caught before its chip can interrogated and the dog would have to be taken to a vet for chip interrogation. So it does not make a dog easier to find. All it does is identify a dog/owner once it is found.

Msg 15 - and only then, if the dog is with the owner that had it microchipped; if not, the microchip is meaningless........as the erstwhile owners are probably already living in another country

he probably went on the pxxs with his mates for a few days , bored of his mundane life , came back for a feed , he will be of again at the weekend , chasin the bitches down the town , whilst the owners are watching eastenders and dreaming of blighty , fair play to him .
