Turkey’s Association of Eurasia Economic Relations and the TRNC Foreign Press Union have issued the final communiqué of their joint workshop titled “TRNC in 2011; Opportunities and Threats” held in Ankara on the 5th of March. The final communiqué stated that the ultimate goal is to allow the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to stand on its own feet with a strong economy and to be able to provide diplomatic and economic support to Turkey.

It also urged for the need to place Turkey-TRNC relations on stronger foundations.



Underlining the need to launch an international initiative aimed at overcoming the isolations imposed on Cyprus Turks, the final communiqué offered the establishment of cooperation among the TRNC,



Turkey and other Turkic republics regarding the assessment of underground resources and tourism potentials of the TRNC.

The communiqué called for a rearrangement for the use of financial assistance provided by Turkey and also stressed the need for restructuring the educational system in the TRNC in the light of recent world developments.



As for the Cyprus negotiations, the communiqué proposed that properties belonging to Evkaf Foundation should be taken into consideration while formulating policies and proposals on the property issue in the negotiations process.
