| Hi chezzi, If the fire grate/basket is for inside your fire, your wood etc will burn a lot faster, as the air will be able to get under the wood etc. When I re-start the fire, I leave app 1 inch of ash in the fire, with at least a 2 inch lip at the front, to stop embers falling out. You can build it up at the front, with large pebbles from the beach. This lets the wood etc smoulder away for hours Try that 1st, see how you get on. Good luck, Navek |

| Hi, Thanks for all your suggestions, even though some of them were not quite what Iwas looking for! I went to the curtain shop gave them my (quite bizzare) fireplace measurements, we discussed the design and they quoted me 3 days, but called me the next morning to say it was finished. Collected it yesterday and it is fab, I really love it. Wish I had done this 5 years ago to save my Travertine getting burnt with logs falling on to the hearth. Very pleased with their help and very quick service, would recommend them to anyone! Thanks again Jayne 62! |
