We have been away for 3 weeks, so thank you to Yasin for keeping us updated. Also thank you to Ismail's friends and supporters, What would he have done without you? Ismail is unwell again, after the brain haemorrhage Ismail had to rest, but as he got better so did the cancer, (and it grew again). He has received 2 more laser treatment sessions, and we are awaiting results on these, in the meantime he developed a very high temperature, and his blood count is affected. He is back in hospital, where he is sedated. he also underwent blood transfusions, His dad Cemal is struggling to cope, I feel so sorry for this family, God only knows how they are getting through this, Cemal said the people of Cyprus have given so much help, Cemal took 8 people from the village all prepared and happy to donate blood, but only 4 could do it for various reasons, So Cemal had to go around the hospital to beg for blood for Ismail, and he had to pay people 100 lira. ctd.

Ismail as lost a lot of weight, he does not feel like eating, and he has a constant thirst, His dad says he just wants to drink water. He actually said to his dad that he thinks he is going to die of thirst. Can you imagine having your seriously ill son say that to you ? I feel that his dad and family should be able to get some sort of counselling. So lets keep our fingers crossed that when he comes around he is feeling stronger, and we get some good news on the cancer. There is a function on Saturday the 26th at The Park Karsiayka , organised by Val and KLD with some of the funds raised going towards Ismail;s treatment and family support Yours Truly will be doing a stint, so please come and join us.

The Turkish army have fully equipped medical centres with modern facilities and 40,000 young and fit men who can give blood for free. Why should this poor man have to pay for his son's blood and treatment?

Zoots, you make a good point, I think that at the time it was an emergency and they needed the blood right away. But also how can anyone be so uncaring and selfish that the only way that they will give a child blood is in return for money.

Poor little boy, it is so tough coping with the treatment and as you say when the chemo stops the tumours often grow larger as there is nothing to stop them. It is awful that his family have to pay for blood for a child. I don't know how they would cope without your support. x

Nice comments, thank you. Glad to be back, We had a fabulous time, but its not reality, so life goes on, We have some very loyal supporters, and friends. Thank You. Many very generous people have helped, but thanks in particular to one very generous Gentleman, whom I do not know, and I have never met, he made some considerable size donations, and at present is in the lead for the signed David Haye gloves. ( a consolidated bid ). £1500 So we have coped with funding so far. But the money gets used up very fast, We very often have to send around 2,000 TL. (and fast when it is needed) Tomorrow if Ismail is up to it, he needs to travel again, and his dad and a nurse have to fly with him, he has to have 3 seats on the plane to lie down with a drip attached , Plus seats for a nurse and his dad. So we need constant funding. Thank You to you all. People keep telling me the family could not have coped with out Jan and my efforts , But I could not have done this without you peop

With respect - has anyone asked the Turkish army, should the need for blood arise again, would they be prepared to give the blood for free, how quickly can that be arranged, and if so, their contact number be in the hands of all concerned with Ismail. I still find it disconcerting that the two cancer charities (that I am aware of, may be more)? In TRNC aren't funding/supporting this family - if the family aren't strong enough in their disposition to speak to any and everyone who could be of help - some people find it hard to ask for help, or are able to identify and explore all possible options, however strong their need. Is there a FLUENT Turkish speaker who is speaking up on their behalf, when anything needs doing, or someone needs approaching? Is there a fluent Turkish speaker fund-raising any moment they have spare? I simply find it so hard to understand why this family is struggling to the degree they are.......
