Hi all

I read the forum regularly but don't chip in much but as I am wanting to sell my appt & if its not a contradiction in terms was wondering if any of you knowledgeable people out there out there can recommend a good estate agent?

I had a few issues as a buyer & know others who have had problems selling so any good advice would be appreciated

Without any hesitation I recommend Ian Smith. Don't know of another agent who gives such a good service and actually knows what integrity means.

I would recommend Sunbeams estates - never heard anything but praise from our customers that have used them.

We used Ian Smith to buy our first flat. They were excellent and even helped with making a will etc. There was no problem with obtaining the deeds either as they pointed us in the direction of an honest builder.

Trouble is Liddy, one man's 'good' agent can so easily be another's nightmare. Selling can be as big a minefield as buying in its own way. Although they never sold our house, I was impressed with Ian Smith, they had the right attitude, and gave us plenty of viewers.

Watch out for an insidious little creep called Sucuk, who muscles in on possible sales, claims he "found the buyer", then wants his percentage of the sale price. Send him packing, also any agent who brings him along!

I could write a book about the various viewers we had, and the silly stories we were told.

Dear Liddy, at Boray Estates we are constantly looking for new properties for our portfolio. Please contact me to discuss in more detail your property and our terms. Its better if I can call you and arrange to meet.

Thanks all - looks like Ian Smith & boray have generally good reputations but will look into all mentioned. I do take on board Kaiserphil & mamachina that what works for one does not work foll all & I will look out for Sucuk!!!

halffull - did your neighbor get a sale? and was it in Cyprus Today? sounds a good option if so

Sunbeams estate agents have a good reputation http://www.sunbeamsestate.com I know many people who rent out their properties with them. Also know people who have used them for selling. Good service- house/apartment on web site within a few hours and very quick to bring potential customers to view. office 0392 822 39 10 mobile 0533 849 89 59 Gives very good advice on price and what improvements might be needed to bring a sale.

Sorry for not replying before.

No she didn't use Cyprus Today, I'm not sure which papers but I know she advertised in the Star ( Turkish edition). She has at least one family coming back for a second viewing at the weekend.

What about Eden Estates in Lapta, are they any good? (or do they still exist?)

We nearly bought into the Amarante Valley debacle back in 2005, and pulled out at the last minute. Spoke to Eden Estates about getting them to build a house for us, but got cold feet and decided against that one too!

We have found Sandra at Landmark very good.

At least she gets the people around to view so you have a chance to sell your property.

The more no's you get the nearer you are to the one that says yes!

I used Ian Smith Estate Agency. Can't fault them as they handled every aspect of my sale as I'm in the UK. But will say that its a buyers market and the proprty has to be priced right. Good Luck
