House sitter needed west of Guzelyurt mid April

I need the services of a trustworthy house sitter(s) for two weeks from 13th April. A modest house in rural location with fantastic views of the Troodos mountains and Morphou Bay. The house comes with a well behaved hunting dog and some plants to water. Any suggestions or recommendations please?

Would have loved to have done the house sitting for you but will be spending Easter in the UK with my mother.

Beware, we had house sitters last year, trashed the house, didn't give a shit about the dogs and were working for two other people supposedly caring for their homes and pets at the same time. Val & bob don't even consider them. We are not the only people who have been unhappy with their service. I would advise get references and a deposit from who ever you use.

Be highly aware of squatters and their seemingly inalienable 'rights' in TRNC - I heard a story the other day, from a reputable source, about a family who 'let' their house, only to find a shell when they returned!



However, although there are many looking for such an opportunity as yours to 'take advantage; looking on the bright side, there must be some honest people around!

If its that bad over there why not charge a deposit, if the person is really serious about looking after your home whilst your not there, they won't mind parting with money. If anything is broken or damaged you can take it from the deposit. Or treat it like an interview for a job, make a list of questions you need to ask, put notes down and discuss with someone else, then make a decision. Or as Gates has pointed out, put the dog in kennels for peace of mind.

Dont give up, I have housesat/catsat for our friends for a couple of years. there will be lots of honest people out there, you just need to check out references and yes, check if possible that the references are genuine, are you sure that you have no friends who can do this for you?

Val and her partner Rob looked after ( joke) our house and dogs for a month. At the same time they were also looking after two others houses and animals. Thats what came to light after the event. They trashed and filthed my home. My dogs were uncared for with filthy bowls and unwashed faces. Didn't even calll a vet when my dog had a fit!



To top that when she got caugh working by immigration she grassed us up for employing her cash.

Then blamed it on her ex friends!



So watch your back Spider cos she is poison . Defend her all you like most people here in the TRNC know all about her dirty scaming ways.

I feel sorry for you if the likes of her are your friends.

OK TOP DOG HOTEL what are your rates ? I recall talking to someone and they were not too happy leaving their dog at your place either, they went back to use the one who dose the dog training here, sorry I am unable to remember her name but I am sure you know who has the other dog kennels in the mountains. Maybe its Lena.. and my question was and still is why not mention that you are the TOP DOG HOTEL. And while we are at it why not just call your self Sarah from the Top Dog Hotel..or even Firestarter



As you say some people you just cannot depend on them being truthful.Just another double id ! or should that be treble ? I choose my friends and it takes year to trust. Maybe the same can be said about a the Top Dog Hotel too. Did you mention scamming ways.

Weren't to happy to leave their dog at Top Dog Hotel,? i think not. Its the only place here where they have any standards. I can guarentee that all dogs are well cared for at Top Dog Hotel. Maybe they were just to tight to pay for standards? i will pass on your slanderous message to them , i am sure they will be most happy.

I would suggest that you visit them and see for yourself before slandering peoples business's.



This is not about them, it is about a dirty pikey who house sits and trashes your house. Then trys to get others into trouble to get herself out of trouble.

Why not ask her mate Crimper cos thats who she blamed for being a grass! The people involved have talked as rational adults about it and val is the grass.

Funny how someone else you know has also told you about her antics but you fail to believe, well thats your choice. That doesn't stop anyone from voicing their views or warning others not to become involved with this person.

A foot note to my earlier request. I was grateful to for the advice that forum members contributed and I must say I was rather anxious about recruiting the wrong house sitter. However, when some folk in the village where I live learnt that I intended to ask someone from outside of the village to look after the house etc they were staggered and offered/insisted that they look after things for me, not as actual house sitters but with a key to the house.



The day I flew to the UK my Pointer dog moved to his temporary accomodation where he had the run of the house and I handed over my keys. I had a couple of text messages whilst I was away that he (my main concern) was okay which was good to know.



I returned home two weeks later to find all was well, the dog healthy, the plant pots watered, the house mopped, dusted and fresh flowers in vases around the house and a bonus my two 'working cats' present and correct. There's a lot to be said for life in a small village.
