Opening, hopefully at the end of the month in Catalkoy. We spoke to the owner yesterday and he told us that he ran two of these restaurants with the same name in Essex for several years. Checked on line and found good reports of quality and price of food and an authentic Italian restaurant would be nice for those of us who live East of Girne !

P.S. We are not related to or have any business dealings with the proprietors, just posting this for anyone who might be interested

Deniz 1 why should it affect Mardo? if anything having good businesses together will complement each other I would have thought, better than an empty shop unit anyway.

Because Mado do italian ice cream and italian style coffee and nice food.So another venue right next door must be a problem.

Is it Mardo or Mado? They are two different establishments!

I think the two will compliment each other and businesses attract customers for other businesses when in the same area. Both Mardo and Mado should be concentrating on what they produce best and rely on for their name - serving Ice cream plus related products! If I wish to eat a good pasta, I would go for an Italian and not Mardo/Mado. Likewise, if I wanted to have special ice cream I would go to one of the latter instead of MacDonalds! Hence, being able to have both my dinner and afters at the same location might entice me to visit the places even more so.

I think Mardo is more of a daytime venue and Spag J will be an evening venue.

I am sure Ossie's & Cathy's business will continue to thrive at Mardo's.

Their food menu is mainly snack based and is very good value, then of course they have the superb

ice cream sales which must be very good during the summer months as I have often had to queue.

If I were going to eat at Spag Junction I would leave and have my dessert next door.

Good luck to both establishments.

Mardo's ice cream milkshakes are wonderful in the summer.

If you haven't had one, try the one with biscuits in, mmmmmmmm!

Really looking forward to a good italian restaurant on this side.
