I love Thai and Asian food, but why do you say we need it here. This is Cyprus and where can you get proper Cypriot food which is more to the point.

I saw the sign going up, and my dear beloved's comment was as cynical as usual. "I give them six months.!' So many restaurants start up and then disappear. Nice Chinese ones etc, but who knows, this one might make it. I wish them well, as I guess we all do, and do we assume that the bar upstairs will be the same for those who enjoyed it last year?

I think what would be excellent here, especially in the Alsancak/Lapta area is a proper Chinese take away. like we had in the UK. A little bit basic , in the shop front but serving good take away Chinese food at sensible prices, Yes must agree the night s last summer at the Roof where great nights, I was privileged to do the Disco and party nights there and it was so rewarding to see so many people enjoying them selves.

Does anyone know if its the same lot who had the old Taj premises further along on the main road? Or is it the ones who had the Barrel with new chef? We love thai food, but its got to be genuine, not dumbed down for westerners!! They even dumb down in the big hotels in Bangkok - we had to ask for "like they have over there" - not what you've given us!! Bet the upstairs bar doesnt do cheap drinks and burgers for kids in the summer!! doesnt really go with Thai does it?

When I have been diving in Thailand the boat boys prepare Thai lunches. They wont eat it. I tried theirs once, wow, hot or what. I am all for choice and would go to a Thai restaurant here if it had a Thai chef. The point I was trying to make is, we live in Cyprus but where can you go out and get good honest Cypriot food and I am not talking about kebabs as that is not Cypriot.

Whistler, Cenap is good but it is meze and that is not truly Cypriot. I am after main courses as you get when invited to eat in Cypriot friends, not little tit bits.

Hi, Today, went up the road from the Golden Lady towards Riverside and noticed a restaurant....name was I think Silk Way ?? Is this the restaurant referred to in this thread? Noticed the word Thai on the banner... Has anyone been there for a meal, can they comment as to the style / quality, and is it a real Thai chef doing the cooking? Best Regards TonyE

| I met some people last week who said they enjoyed the Thai food which seemed pretty authentic. However, no effort whatsoever had been made to the decor in order to give a Thai ambience to the restaurant, which does help to "sell" a place, particularly if somewhere changes as frequently at this one.
