My wife and daughter have just been diagnosed with a wheat intolerance, does anyone know if any gluten free products are available at all in the supermarkets?

It is limited here but Tempo and Ilelli sell flour at least and maybe rice noodles. Certain of the dorset muesli are oat based which should be ok for wheat intolerance.

Joe,

Research products that are certified gluten free and look out for them. Lots are available here

Lemar has a limited range including muesli and some biscuits but if you walk across to the south on Ledra Street a short way along on the left hand side is a new branch of Holland & Barrett and they have lots of goodies! Also further away the supermarkets in the south have a far wider range including gluten free flour.

Bell foodstore also have a fairly good range of GF stuff - pasta, biscuits, crackers etc. Mosy supermarkets now have some G.F. products. I can give you a couple of recipes for lovely cakes???

I have had a wheat allergy for over 20 years and find that cookery books usually contain ingredients that you just can't get here - north or south.

I buy self raising and plain flour from Orphanedes in the south and bake as usual with them, just replacing normal flour for the GF one. The make is ORGRAN - it's Australian.

Also Carrefour sell wheat free sliced bread and chocolate cake. It is the one in the Mall of Cyprus.

I went out last night to an Italian restaurant and took my own wheat free pasta. I felt like everyone else!!!! It was great!

Let me know if you need more help.
