Has anyone recently transported a Yacht to North cyprus, if so please can you give details of how best to go about it? Unfortunately we don't have the time to sail her down.

It would cost you less to pay someone to sail it here.

Transporting is very expensive. Get a skipper to sail her down for you.

Hippo (Dave) is definitely the person to answer your questions. I'll speak to him on your behalf as you're unable to see members information as a new member.

Briefly I am a circumnavigator who sold his boat after arriving here from the circumnavigation. It took 8 years.

Getting it sailed here from UK could cost a lot with wages, repairs etc. Transporting it by road or ship to Turkey/Italy could be worth investigating; and even to the South. Try yacht builders who deliver regularly to the Med. Tell a few fibs as if you may be interested in buying and how they would deliver!

Call me if you wish

Before you even think about bringing a boat here you need to secure a bearth.

There is no Dockwise type ship comming to Cyprus.

As i said i will answer you by email, as a current yacht owner here for the past 5 years and an active sailor 3.5k nm per year i know probably more than anyone about bringing a boat to the TRNC.

We need to communicate soon as i will be soon sailing.

I also am transporting my boat from the UK. It is a 22 ft Dockrell with bilge keels so have it strapped to a flatbed trailer behind my 2.8 tdi iveco van which has been made into a camper van. I have done as much investigation with routes, ferry as possible and have spoken to a few people who do the route and a couple who have already shifted boats. I know many think this a reckless gamble but the tub is going and the risk worthwhile and if it works thanks to all that have helped.

My son is sailing his 42 foot Bavaria to Kyrenia, and should arrive about the end of May. As sailing has been his business for many years he may have qualified skipper friends who could sail her here for you. As said in a previous post , you will have great difficulty in securing a berth.

One of the advantages of pulling my little boat out there is i can operate as a trailer sailor until a berth is secured. Unless anyone knows different lol and there are obstacles to that as well.

notthereyet...your Dockrell is not named Kiss-k-dee from Essex is it...Our first yacht was a Dockroll and we loved her so very much, we we had never sold her...Fantastic little things and its all we need here. Please let us know when you are over so we could come and see her We looked into shipping our Westley Pagent 23ft and the cost was £3,500...Thought this was rather cheap !

Hi Spider she was " Indian summer" from Chatham now "Carpe Cerivisi II" and yes she is a clever little craft. Your welcome to come aboard when she arrives, we are hoping the boat makes our stay all that more special.

notthereyet Thank you so very much and would love too. She certainly will bring you lots of enjoyment over here and good luck with your journey over...Give us a shout email...........mariavic@live.com Look forward to meeting you both. What an adventure you have in front of you. All the very best wishes. Just a little disappointed she is not the good old faithful Kiss-k-dee She gave us years of fun.and a great starter craft as I was too frightened to go for BIG first having never sailed before ! Those were the days and so very much miss it all. Mr Spider has day skipper and as always I know it all...well thats what the cabin girls is for LOL I am also sure you could take her out from Algardi area no problems ! just befriend the owner of the bar down there All the very best wishes on a safe trip over.

There must be charts available but possibly not up to date as both North & South might consider them to be of "military value".

Have you tried the chandlers in Girne & Famagusta?

I notice that Msg 1, as a first posting and a new member, having received some useful information hasn't had the common decency of replying on this forum for the advice that has been given.

I wonder if I smell......................or...................?!
