My neighbour has a doberman, tomorrow he will take it to the belediye to have him destroyed. We have fed it and it seems to have a good nature but has been neglected. It is a young male dog and desperately needs a loving home.

I am not looking for idle remarks, if you are interested in the dog please phone Phil on 0533 8735456

The dog is in Baspinar and the neighbour (who owns it) has no interest in it. If you know anybody who would be interested please phone.

Such beautiful animals. Dobermans. I cant beleive this. Phil as holly says start a new thread with an appeal. There has to be a way this can be saved. Why the hell do they take these poor unsuspecting dpgs who give so much love only to treat them like that. What I also find unbeleivable is that the belediye would do this just because he is unwanted. Ring KAR first thing tomorrow and explain. Im sure they will know a way x

Maybe also contact K9, they could perhaps help short term until a home is found.

KAR will help im sure, but please leave them a donation, if only to go towards some food.

You may have to take the dog up to them as they are limited with when they can collect.

But saying this, Are your neighbours just wanting the dog out the way or is it in any distress?

Also the question has to be asked.... What is the Nationality of your neighbours ?

It is germane that the reader is told WHY the animal is unwanted - Doberman's are often used as guard dogs, if it is badly (or not) trained, to pass it to another owner could be a tragedy waiting to happen. If it is unwanted, it may not be socialised with other animals or indeed humans - adults/children, it may have health problems which are vet prohibitive - I do feel it is not enough to say "it seems to have a good nature but is neglected" in the same way that damaged people, damage people - damaged dogs, damage dogs (and maybe people) and whereas we have a voice box and can verbalise our emotions, an animal can't. We once got a dog from Battersea whose history was unknown, for the first few weeks, not a sound came from her; she had a tattoo in her ear, so it was presumed she had been 'released' from a lab. She followed me EVERYWHERE, stuck to me like glue, but when I couldn't take her in the car-school run, or dentist say - I came home to find a row of neighbours telling me

she had howled (she was a Beagle) from the second I had left until I got home, and NOTHING and NO-ONE could stop this behaviour - Battersea kindly took her back to try and train her (no way were we going to desert her, but couldn't train her ourselves or do anything to change her behaviour) I even paid for Dr Roger Mugford to come and see her - but even he couldn't do anything - in the end, I gave her to a lady a few streets away, who was a widow, home or out walking every day, didn't own a car, had no other family, and the two of them lived happily together until Emma (the dog) passed away. I took them to the Vet for Em's final journey - it broke everyone's heart, but we were cheered she had a quite a few happy years with someone who was with her all the time.

Oh MsGarnett I went so cold reading this. I know we do not know anything about the dogs we take on here we hope we do a good job. The only one is my staffi that we know his history. However we have to find out more to save this soul. Sometimes they just need company, its been proved that an animal that doesn't have company really suffers. If you take them into your home you have to make loving time. I'm so very lucky, my Mojo the one I brought here was a spoilt soul in the UK, then he gets brothers and sisters all the time . Its like OK mum what else. They have adapted to our lifestyle and hours we work, as do all the poor souls that has lived on my balcony until I find them a home. However there is always love time for them all. They are just so happy to be loved and give it back ten fold. I am racking my brains for this poor soul.

We feed this dog morning and night, it is tied up, when we approach it, it gets very excited and wiggles around, it has never shown any aggression towards us or our dog that is with us when we feed it. We do not know its history, it is our Cypriot neighbours dog and he does not want it. My phone number is on the first post so if you can help, please phone. Thanks Phil

Rowlo, clearly you find all of these posts, where animal lovers are trying to help these poor mistreated creatures, a bore to saty the least....and I must say that I read your comments and feel the same, so do everyone a favour and dont bother opening posts that will obviously be about animals....you are incredibly offensive for no obvious reason. Cyprus 44 is about support for the ex pats in Northern Cyprus and if you dont feel that you can offer support to those of us trying to rehome/assist animals in need then please dont bother to comment at all.

I wish there was a law in TRNC that if someone is found to be neglecting an animal - whatever nationality - it should be a chargeable offence - it is unbearable all these animals suffering - just so sad and awful........this Doberman is obviously desperate for a cuddle........

So pleased that this dog has found a new home. I have also been going up and feeding this dog. I approached Metin and asked him why he was not feeding this beautiful dog. He told me that it was not his, but then went on to say that it did not like his children. I contacted KAR but they are so full and said that their hands are tied when it comes to animals with owners. Pity we have not got a body in the TRNC where neglectful owners can be penilised. Metin has a small garden centre where the dog was tied up. I certainly wont be buying anything form him.

Hi Cazzy, not sure if we are talking about the same dog here. My neighbour isn't called Metin and this dog was up in the mountains above Lapta.

Hi Philnles, Yes up top of the mountain just past the where the Baspinar Restaurant used to be above Lapta. He is a brown large Doberman with docked ears and tail. Very thin and sores on his tail and hips. Hope it is the same one as this dog needs help.

Unfortunately KAR are unable to help an animal if it's on private property. Many the time that I've wanted to go into someones garden and just release an animal into the street - it would be happier roaming free than the 3ft length of chain it has been condemmed to for life, living in its own "crap" and being watered and fed when the owner feels like it - or being used as a factory for breeding purposes as soon as the female reaches a certain age. However it would just create another problem so it's a totally no win situation and the anti-KAR brigade would have a field day.

It's heart breaking, it really is.
