BTW - "Bulb" is an Americanism. We would call it a lamp. Bulbs are what flowers grow from. Surprised DC didn't pick-up on that one!

Light bulb is the correct grammatical description. A lamp is a device that produces illumination when fitted with a light bulb.

Tried to get one for the wife's machine here and I am a regular customer with most of the electrical suppliers and no one could supply. Ended up sending details to one of our neighbours who was coming out from UK and they brought it. It is a special lamp/bulb so an oven one is no good. (The shape alone is totally different)

The modern world is an electrified world. The light bulb, in particular, profoundly changed human existence by illuminating the night and making it hospitable to a wide range of human activity. The electric light, one of the everyday conveniences that most affects our lives, was invented in 1879 by Thomas Alva Edison. He was neither the first nor the only person trying to invent an incandescent light bulb. THE STORY DID YOU KNOW? Invention: electric light bulb in 1879 Definition: noun / electric light bulb / incandescent lamp Function: An electric lamp in which a filament is heated to incandescence by an electric current. Today's incandescent light bulbs use filaments made of tungsten rather than carbon of the 1880's. Patent: 223,898 (US) issued January 27, 1880

Bill, Joseph Swan, a British inventor, obtained the first patent for the same light bulb in Britain one year prior to Edison's patent date. Swan even publicly unveiled his carbon filament light bulb in Newcastle, England a minimum of 10 years before Edison shocked the world with the announcement that he invented the first light bulb. Edison's light bulb, in fact, was a carbon copy of Swan's light bulb. Edison was a consummate thief of other people's ideas.
