For anyone interested in reading the judgment in the case brought by the Gurkhas here it is. Finally justice to these proud men who gave their lives fighting and serving this Country, and for us all. The UK Government should be ashamed and embarassed for letting it get this far. It's also a refreshing change to see the the Human Rights Act used for the purpose it was enacted. Well done Gurkhas. In the face of the "establishment".....What an achievement. http://www.bailii.org/cgi-bin/markup.cgi?doc=/ew/cases/EWCA/Civ/2003/1345.html&query=gurkhas&method=boolean

I couldn't agree more. What a disgrace that it came to this.

As the daughter of a Scots soldier & widow of an Indian gentleman, I am glad to see justice for the Gurkhas. Shame on our country that it was not done long before.

I cannot believe that after all they have done for the UK, they had to 'fight' against that very country for justice. Makes my blood boil! Those who try to deprive them of their rights and humanity are nothing but scum! Not my customary way of using the Queen's English but adequately describes my demeanour!

Its especially irritating that it came to this, these brave men fought for our country and deserve to live here. Other less deserving are welcomed with open arms!

Coachie I guess they're hoping that will come as the reason they are only currently paid a percentage of full pension is on the basis that they live in a low cost of living country... hardly applies to anyone living in the UK now....

My late father fought in the second world war and had great admiration for the Gurkhas their bravery and total lack of fear under fire. The war made a pacifist out of him but he used to say with a wry smile he would gladly put every last politician up against a wall and machine gun them , if it would make the world a better place.

Yes, we feel an affinity with them, as brave, fearless warriors, tough, mountain people, as the Highlanders.
