Is it right for us to intervene in other countries civil wars?

Should we leave the Arab countries alone and let them sort themselves out?

Depends on whether we're selling them weapons and if they have oil, I reckon.

It's all part of the West's 'Divide & Rule' strategy - of course, all in the name of 'Democracy'!

It'll be interesting to see what transpires if oil is ever found and exploited in Cyprus!

We are as a country acting legally this time. Oil or not , if despotic tyrants like Gadaffi are allowed to murder his own people & the world community stand by & do nought, then no point in having a UN.

I have lived & worked in the Mid East for the past 30 years & what is transpiring now is long overdue...just watch out for the Saudi people rising up. The most horrendously brutal regime in the World. It is the House of Saud's awful regime that spawned Al Qaeda in the 1st place. If we all think Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen etc are bad, they will pale in to insignificance when Saudi "blows".

I predict that in the next few years when most Autocratic Arab regimes are gone, we will see a peaceful period in this very troubled part of the World.

The US & the oil hungry West have a lot to answer for . We collectively put these tyrants in power in the 1st place. Now that the Arab man on the street is demanding his freedom, we have a huge problem.

Iran and Iraq were only intent on slaughtering each other for years before intervention. The aftermath so far ?

napolean, you speak very true words regarding Saudi, its been covered up for too long. The royal families are the worst, they are a law unto themselves and goodness knows how many of the people have been 'disposed of' because they have spoken out. It hasn't just stopped at the people, it has involved the royal family also being 'got rid' if they don't toe the line......

If it is right to intervene, why has Mugabe carried on the atrocities he has; continues to do so, and we have stood by and done NOTHING - of course, no oil there!

When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.

Edmund Burke. Thoughts on the Cause of Present Discontents (1770)

What is unfortunate is that political expediency with regard the region and its bounty has led the west to court this monster to (admittedly varying) degrees in the past.

If the west could only get their act together up front and declare personae non gratae all those who rule by despotism this would have been resolved long ago.

As it is, should Gadaffi prevail, who will be the first to break ranks when faced with the oil shortage that would ensue?

Those who have sold arms to this regime bear full responsibility for the crimes they commits with them. After all, they knew he was a mad dog didn't they? You can, therefore, hardly claim that it not the gun that kills people. They knew he was bound to use them on his own people at some stage.

While Japan goes into meltdown and people all over the planet seem to be having a meltdown – the powers that be are on their way to “saving” Libya. As Webster Tarpley tells it, this is the start of WW3.

Obama again wants us to believe we are going into Libya for “humanitarian” reasons and it will be another “cakewalk”. It’s the oil and once again breaking Intl. Law by targeting a leader of another country.

If they were so interested in humanitarian issues, why not go in and help the Palestinians or the Saudi’s or the peoples' of China?

While motorways are clogged and road repairs need doing, and the country's debt increases, we have no money to repair our infrastructure - we approve more money for the EU, Iraq, Afghanistan and private contractors. People in the UK without jobs and without rights struggle to get by while education and child and senior care gets slaughtered. Are you feeling the “love” yet?

Trusting one’s government to do the right thing or care about you is a joke. Japan’s government knew about the falsifications of reports on their nuclear reactors and turned a blind eye. Who pays for it now? Obama said we have nothing to worry about from nuclear fallout that will travel around the world. That will get into the water, soil and air. That will kill people either slowly or quickly. And Cameron follows on like Blair did with Bush! Cameron was asked by the Obama regime to push for the UN No Fly Zone .

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy ... Hm
