I am fed up with getting text messages from all and sundry selling stuff. Who gives the phone companies the right to give out my number? I thought mobile numbers were private.

Yes am getting more & more how can they be stopped?? It is especially annoying to get them from Telsim when my phone is Turkcell.

absolutely sick of it - the thing is you cannot ignore it in case it is from a friend in need. Is it Turkcell who sell your numbers or your bank? Very concerned and wish I could stop it.

Hi Linda, we are back, arrived on Sunday night and YES the texts are so annoying as are the Turkish phone calls from Lord knows who too!!

The Turkcell shop near the roundabout at the bottom of the Nicosia road need to be asked to block them. Thats what the rep at Lemar says.

I keep getting them from Mercure going on about a special deal on sushi...thing is their sushi was rubbish when i went there, about 2 years ago, and i definitely didn't give them my number...how the hell did they get it????

I'd had enough of this too & today, I have finally put a stop to it all, for myself. I'm a Turkcell subscriber & the main offenders sending the spam SMS, mentioned Telsim.

Turkcell when we visited them said there was nothing they could do, we could ring telsim and get our numbers blocked.

They said they have not sold their database of numbers so somebody must of hacked it but we were told that was not posible so how do telsim have turkcell numbers and turkcell have telsim.



I think a case of lets says what they think i want to hear.

I made the mistake a couple of years ago of giving my phone number to one of the casino hotels when I entered one of their poker comps. I was inundated with texts, not only from that casino but from others.

I paid them a visit and had a quiet word in their shell like , which made absolutely no difference.

I have now solved the problem of unwanted texts

How you may ask?

I dont open any texts I receive, and once they reached 68 messages waiting, the phone advised me that there was no more room and I had to clear out old messages. So all I get now is a faint bleep when a message comes in, which I ignore.
