Please can someone give me some directions? Not sure if the coastal road is completed yet. I have been told to head for the Ercan turn off on the Lefkosa to Famugusta road and take a left turn there. Also, approxiamate length of time from Girne! Many thanks! Regards, Mrs Snakes.

I would take the coastal road from Girne, along through Catalkoy, veer left toward Esentepe and past the Golf Club, lots of the road is complete, where it isn't follow the locals who have made their own dirtrack,Once you get to Bacardi Beach,it's about 10 mins on the left hand side. I'd say hour and a half, plus coffee stops and to admire the views. Mike

If you dont want a dirt track, head from Girne up towards the Karpas on the new road. After about 30 mins you will see another new road up to Kantara Castle on the right. Follow that road. At the top of the mountain there is a great little bar that does drinks and food for a rest. At the cross roads by the bar, go straight over and down. Fab views all the way down but drive carefully! Just follow the road down towards the coast. It brings you out just north of Bogaz. Then turn right and follow the road. Just keep going. Approx 35 mins to Balci. If you dont go that way, then come back that way as Kantara is well worth a visit.

| Thanks for suggested route Sandcastle. Thanks DC, I had found your map earlier which was very helpful in locating the Balci Plaza, I am just deciding the route to take......just got a little hatch car.......not exactly an off roader and as I have not ventured to that part of the island before, was unsure if any of the roads were 'rough tracks'! | We stayed there about 2 weeks ago and had a brilliant time. the new coastal road is open and it took us just 1 hour to get to Balci Plaza from catalkoy! Turn left towards Acapulco - go to the end and turn left again towards Tatlisu - then stay on that road, which is a beautiful drive, until you get to the end and turn left (you are above bafra etc already). Keep driving until you go through Yeni Erenkoy and Balci is about 10 minutes out the other side. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did... G |

After you have gone through Yeni Erenkoy, go past the new Marina and Deks. Slow down as the sign for Balci is on your right nearly on the turning. Follow the road down and at the little roundabout turn right to go straight to the beach or left to go for food. If you leave your car were you eat then there is a path down to the beach for walking. He has a little shack on the beach with a fridge and a book for you to help yourself to drinks then pay later!!! Lovely lovely family and great place to relax. Hope you have fun.
