Hi all

we will be staying in Karsiyaka for a couple of weeks in May

wondered if anyone has any reccomendations bars, restaurants, beaches etc

never stayed in Karsiyaka before we usually stay near ozankoy and understand its a pretty quiet place and maybe we will need to drive to find a bar etc?

any advice would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Hi Dean,

Karsiyaka is lovely, on the crossroads you have the Park Cafe, just down the road is club Simena, Sardunya beach cafe, which is delightful. There is a restuarant in the village, the name escapes me for the moment, but I'm sure someone else will enlighten you.

If you fancy a drive, head for horseshoe bay, and up to kayalar, beautiful views. Or head towards Girne to Lapta. There are a number of nice beaches and restuarants with nightlife there.

I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay over this side.

one thing that is good about the place is how near the mountains are to the sea - east of girne, the mountains are some distance, so you seem to either be near the sea, or near the mountains - but in karry-shakka, you get the best of both worlds......

You may well need a car but its one of the best places you can stay in the north, plenty of places to eat and drink and not too buisy.

The restaurant in the village is called The Green Palace, from the main road come to Karsiyaka Square, turn left leads into village at T junction turn right and follow the signs. Just outside of Karasiyaka you have Silver Rocks (Lapta) which is an absolutely beautiful setting and great food.

I would recommend you eat at Silver Rocks and also The Hut - good food and perfect locations right by the sea.

Also up into the village of Karsiyaka and beyond is a tank that was abandoned after the liberation in '74. Carry on up to Kozan which has a lovely restaurant and picnic area

Lovely fish restaurant down the road past the coffee shop/square. When its hot, sit outside on the sort of "pier" bit and enjoy the view and the food, and look for "tiddlers" in the water!

The fish restaurant mentioned is called Sirin Yali. Fantastic seafood meze for 25TL. They also do great steaks. You could also try Horseshoe Bay which is West of Karsiyaka on the way to Kayalar (drive past Karsiyaka/Guzelyali Beach and take the first right turning. The restaurant is a couple of miles along the road by the sea.

To enhance dearie's post, Kozan Retreat and Restaurant definately should not be missed. Traditional Cypriot Kleftico lunch on Sundays, and Traditional Meze and mixed grill/kebab during the week (10am - 6pm except Mondays). Also, if you want to spend a day in Nature, re-group and revitalise then Yoga and Meditation classes are held on Saturdays 10am on the wonderful terrace looking down on the sea and surrounded by the mountains. The views, atmosphere and the warm welcome will certainly give you a taste of real Cyprus. Enjoy your holiday
