A nation-wide population census is planned to be carried out in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus within this year. Commenting on the issue yesterday, Prime Minister İrsen Küçük announced that necessary preparations have been launched to hold a population census in the Republic.



Evaluating the latest developments at the UBP Headquarters in Lefkoşa yesterday, the Premier said the government’s austerity measures had started to yield positive results.



Calling on the trade unions to exercise common sense, the Premier said that the centre for a solution to all the problems experienced in the country was the TRNC.

Condemning the latest contacts held in Brussels by representatives of several trade unions, the Premier said the latest actions of the trade union representatives in Brussels had unveiled their real faces and intentions.



Küçük also criticized the trade unions for collaborating with circles who tried to defame Turkey, claiming that there actions had nothing to do with their responsibilities as trade unionists.





The Premier also gave the message that the government kept all channels for dialogue open.
