I am so excited despite some 'expense' warnings. We have an apartment to rent for as long as we need but will need a dog friendly home to let before xmas. Don't mind size but needs to be on bus route for Bellapais. Been advised cars are more than here. How long is it by bus to cross the border and am I right my dogs cant go south once I(with hassles) get them into North Cyprus? We are lookin forward to eating local produce. Any kind advice greatly received.

claire - don't worry about it - you can be forgiven for thinking rowlo lives there.

But of course, he could (if he wanted to)

When you buy a car you get a document that proves that you own it. When you buy property you have no such paperwork - at least not for many years if ever !!

As regards your dog - No, once brought into the North you cannot take your dog across the 'border' to the South as this contravenes the 'Green line' regulations.

Paul

A friend goes by bus occasionally but, in my opinion, it's totally impractical on a regular basis. Local bus to Girne, another bus to Lefkosa and then a hike to the border and once you're across similar problems on the other side. A car share might be better if you could find somebody in your area who works there already.

Some info is easier to access than others I have never visited the country but am learning Turkish and got the basic guide book lol. I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to work in what looks like a beautiful place.

Chriswife, there are many knockers on here, for whom the dream has turned sour,(For one reason or another)

Life is what you make it, Ive been here 5 years and would far rather struggle here than have My safe old cushy job back in the UK.

Another thing to bear in mind about renting. If you get a villa with a pool make sure pool maintenance is included in the rent or, if not, budget for at least £50 a month for this. Similarly, if you rent an apartment you will also need to factor in monthly maintenance costs if not included.

good luck - you have a lot to learn....

at least yo ar not buying here, so you should be a neck in front of most......

remember - it gets very cold inside your property fro nov to april - colder than you could possibly imagine -due to poor insulation, ceramic floors and possibly 3rd rate construction..
