I am sad to learn that. I used to love looking for the different names printed on the front of his lorries and there was actually a fan club I believe.

What a great work ethic he had, having watched some of the programmes about the company on tv the one thing that struck me was how happy all of his workers were and how much they liked working for the company. Goes to show that if you want to get the best out of your staff [the ones who make you money] treat them well !! All of Stobarts lorries are always clean and the company spend half a million pounds on water rates and washing facilities for their transport fleet.

Quite right! And there some German companies who should try taking a leaf from Eddie's book!

This is Edward, son of Eddie who is alive and in his 80s. The chap who died has been unconnected with the business since 2004.

Actually Edward Stobart died who had been running the company but Eddie Stobart his dad who founded the company is alive and well aged 80, to add further confusion Mr Edward Stobart sold the firm to his brother William and business partner Andrew Tinkler in 2004.

How ironic that Eddie Stobart's life was limited to 56

Well, as far as I'm concerned, I had a kind of compliment one year. A customer of mine mentioned that every road he drove down , he saw one of my vans. Even on the M11. We only had two!!!

Every road, well, major road I drove on, I passed an Eddie Stobbard lorry.

I'm so pleased, even though I don't live there any more, that you'll all still have the pleasure of seeing an Eddie Stobbard lorry.

Bless them, what a family.
