Advice needed please. As it will be our first winter here and we have a wood burner we have started looking into log suppliers. Can anyone advise how much many tons of logs are roughly needed to get us through the colder months and can anyone recommend a supplier. Thanking you in anticipation.

Where do you live? A supplier will generally take into account delivery costs so best to get one in the area you live in...

Oh and in answer to the question how many tons... Well it rather depends on how you like to feel... half-naked and still toasty or dressed for Winter and not too hot.... A lot of people here dress inappropriately and then moan that they are cold... Beats me but, in Winter we dress in warmer clothes and only light the fire if we think we need it... Yes it's nice to sit around a log fire... and we do, when it's really cold. We also realised that as heat rises it was just going upstairs, so we put curtains across the open archway from our drawing room and this works really well at keeping the heat in the room... It also depends how big the room/s are and how high the ceilings are.... All these factors will affect the amount of heat you need to generate and therefore the tonnage you need..

Who ever you use for supplying logs if you have not got an open fire then make sure the supplied logs are small enough to fit into your log burner (unless you want plenty of exercise of course) AJ
