Girne Festival – The Event of the Year!

Cheshire Home and Girne Belediyesi are working together with local businesses, bands, theatre groups and choirs to provide a full weeks entertainment called “Festival-11” this September.

More details will follow but to whet your appetite a Carnival Queen will be elected in July, a Float parade through the town on Sat 17 with live music and dancing in Girne square.

During the following week, Shakespeare, Choral Works cultural and fun events around the area.

In the Amphitheatre Friday 23rd Blues and Jazz with Bex Marshal and her Band, Saturday a Rock Concert with Secret Police, The Bohemians and Funky Monkey, and Sunday the Turkish superstar Okan Ersan will take the stage. Plus supporting acts, stalls, food and bar.



Q1.Cost? Nightly show tickets 25tl.



Q2.Want to take part in the fun? Apply to enter a float now, cost is 100tl for business and 25tl for educational and sports teams.



Q3.YES you can advertise all over it!

This event will be much bigger and better than last year's "Disability Knows No Borders" concert. A week of different types of entertainment followed by THREE nights of world-class concerts at Girne amphitheatre.

After the Carnival parade on 17th September there will be a FREE concert in the Belediye Square, Girne, featuring the Hoots house band and the fantastic Emma Marie!

Forms can be downloaded from the Festival11 website to take part in the Carnival Queen pageant and the Carnival.

Three floats have already been confirmed, here is a number limit so don't leave it too late.

But this year we do have songs from the shows... a concert at the Abbey for all who like musicals.... not opera sorry.... Oh the Queen group will do Boh-Rap will that do!!!

Sorry Marion, as you say, can't please all the people all the time, but Festival11 has a fair variety of things going on, so most people should be able to find something that interests them.

We have seen The Bohemians in Uk. If you are a Queen fan you are in for a real treat. They are recommended by Brian May. Will be bloody fantastic.

Oh dear -always the bridesmaid, that's me. But thanks for the kind responses, and yes, Iknow there is loads for 'normal' people (I said that!) and I recognise that I am abormal. As to songs from th shows - I won't go cos you see I will join and the rest of th audience mgiht not like that. so I shall have to stay home and sing alongw ith my thousand of CD's.

Oh ys,. and as I willbe year older next year, can i have a Glamorous Great Grandmother competition - I mgiht stand a chance. My family are a right lot of regular breeders, and at this rate given anher decade i could be a Great GreatGrandmother. (If I liv e long enough!)
